There was no telling when all the chaos would come to an end. It was one issue after the other. Just when she thought all was well, she took ten steps back. It was ironic though. She was addicted to conflict, she craved for it, it made life more interesting. It was what made her look forward to waking up in the morning, and yet it haunted her. It was true when they said that too much of a good thing was bad. She felt like there was a lot going on behind her back that she was not aware of. Every single day, she woke up to more questions than answers, and the one person who could answer them was connected to every possible machine in the hospital. Jorge was the only person who could help her make sense of everything. What was really going on? MJ wondered if perhaps her brother lived a secret life. It bothered her to think that there was a possibility that she did not know him as much as she thought she did. What if he was involved in illegal businesses? She waited in the car after leaving La Café. She wanted to be mad at Logan but she could not, she thought she would be affected by the possibility of Logan seeing someone else, but she was not, she felt nothing. Maybe it was because she knew he was incapable of loving anyone, this was all a game to him, and in the end, he was the one who was going to burn. If he thought she was going to repeat another Carmen drama, he had something else coming. She took out a business card from her purse and stared at it, contemplating whether or not to make the call. "Zoe, hi! This is MJ Billings speaking." "Hi. Miss Billings. What can I do for you?" "I was hoping that you could help me out with Kyle Davids' address. I went to his office and they said he hasn't been around for some days." "You haven't heard?" Zoe asked, sounding surprised. "Kyle Davids was nearly killed in a poisoning accident. He is back at his apartment, I'll send you the address shortly." "Thank you." The detective did as she had promised, and an hour later, MJ pulled up outside Kyle Davids' apartment and she was not prepared for what she found. There were journalists loitering around, probably trying to get a story from him. She hoped that he did not put her brother in the spotlight too. There was no way she could get in now, if she stepped out of the car, they would definitely take shots of her and find a way to fit her into the whole story. She hated journalists. She was about to drive away when the gate slid wide open. She looked sceptical, waiting to see if perhaps there was a car coming out. At times like this, she wished Liam was here. He would know what to do, he would have intimidated and scared the journalists away. She sped up and pulled into the driveway before she could give it another thought, and then she watched as the gate closed behind her. Ah! So he was opening the gate for her. How nice of him. She stepped out of the car when she spotted Kyle standing at the balcony before going back inside. And seconds later, he came downstairs and opened the door for her. She really liked his place, its simplicity reminded her so much of Cameron's bachelor apartment back in London. "Aren't you afraid that you are going to wake up on the front page of a local newspaper tomorrow morning with headlines of an alleged affair?" "That's the least of my worries right now Kyle," she said and walked over to the balcony. "How are the divorce proceedings going?" Kyle joined her and handed her a bottle of water. He look like he had just finished working out, for someone who was knocking on death's door, he looked well. He was just in black runner shorts and shirtless, his toned chest basking in the sun, and his jet-black hair matching with his dark eyes. He shrugged. "I have no idea, a lot has happened in the last couple of days." So she heard. "I went to see Logan." Kyle sighed, his eyes wandering around the yard. For some reason he was avoiding eye contact. "Why am I not surprised? So, what did he tell you?" "Why didn't you tell me? I mean, I know I said we should keep minimal contact, but it doesn't mean you should not inform me when you are in danger," she said. He met her eyes for a second and then quickly looked away. "I didn't want to add to your problems." MJ scoffed. "You are already my problem. Logan says Samantha is responsible for your poisoning." "Be that as it may be, I have no business with your assistant, May. If I was directly involved with her or she had really meant to kill me, It would be a totally different story." She nodded but did not push the matter any further, she stood against the rail with her back facing the gate. "What are you going to do now that you have leverage over your wife? I mean, I know it is not what you were counting on, but it is the best chance you have at keeping everything. You could say she tried to kill you in order to get her claws on your money." Kyle frowned. "Why are you so determined to get her out of the way?" He asked. MJ shrugged. "I don't know, maybe it's because I feel like you deserve better. You have been stuck in this loveless marriage for years. Are you willing to spend the rest of your life miserable?" "Since when do you care about me?" She tilted her head and raised a questioning eyebrow at him. "Who said I care?" He moved up and stood next to her with his wrists on the rail while facing towards the gate. "Her family is going to argue that it was a mistake." "Then threaten to take them to court, do you think the Khumalos are willing to throw their only child under the bus for the sake of money?" He fiddled with his fingers and sighed. "May, I'm sure you didn't come all this way to advice me on my divorce." He was right, she did not. "I need you to do me a favour." "What is it?" He asked. "I want you to bring Jameson Peterson back from Australia." Kyle laughed. "Are you kidding me? What do you and your boyfriend think I'm running here, a creche? You want me to bring Jameson after Logan went through the trouble to get him out of the way?" How could she ever forget about that? She thought. She still had no idea how Logan convinced Kyle to send Jameson away, but she was convinced that his wife had to do with it. That woman was trouble, MJ did not understand why Kyle kept defending her. "Look, I'm not interested in Jameson Peterson at all. Bring him back, even if it is for a week, but he doesn't have to know that." "What are you getting at?" "If Jameson's mother thinks her son is going to move back to South Africa permanently, she's going to follow him." "Let me get this straight, you want to use Jameson to lure Mrs Peterson back into the country?" MJ smirked and shrugged elegantly. "What is your business with that woman?" "You see, Kyle. One thing that life has taught me is that a person could laugh with you now and stab you in the back the moment you turn away," she said. "Do you know how to deal with those kind of people? You take the one thing in the world they cherish the most, and they will finally show you who you are to them." "MJ, what are you going to do? Are you planning to kill Jameson?" All the playfulness vanished from her face. "I won't have to if you bring him back. It would be sad to watch Reina return home with her son's corpse." Kyle shook his head. "You just never learn, do you? Murder brings unnecessary consequences and things you can't get rid of, your assistant is a perfect example." One thing about Kyle that MJ liked was that he was nothing like Logan, she could not tell whether it was cowardice or simply good manners, but he shied away from danger; he wanted nothing at all to do with crime. While Logan on the other hand would jump at every opportunity to cause trouble. He was exactly like her, and Samantha was just like the both of them if not worse. She already knew how to take care of Samantha, she was not as worried about her anymore than she was about Logan or Kyle. Her only concern was her brother.
