She was shaken by the possibility of her sister being dead or being the next victim that she did not pay much attention to the car they were driving.
But the moment Caroline Becker walked down those stairs, everything just started to feel wrong, and she wondered what mess she had gotten herself into.
There was this indescribable tension during lunch, and the doctor looked uncomfortable. The worst thing was that she could not keep the food for much longer, she threw up a few minutes after eating.
Samantha volunteered to go shopping after asking Caroline for a list of food she ate since the beginning of her pregnancy, and Carmen asked to tag along, which Samantha was not thrilled about.
They left, and it was just Demi and Caroline left in the house. It was awkward because they had never gotten along, especially after Sasha's affair with the mayor.
"Something about this doesn't feel right," Demi admitted. "What kind of situation have you got yourself into?"
They were in the sitting room, neither of them really paying attention to the TV. Caroline looked like she wanted to tell Demi something, but she was holding back. Demi on the other hand was trying to piece this entire situation together.
"I could ask you the same thing," Caroline bit off. "I don't know what you think you are doing, but that woman is dangerous, she's no different to my husband."
Demi wanted to tell her that she knew the baby was not Eric Becker's, but she did not want to make things worse by reminding Caroline how she came to this discovery. She just wondered who the unlucky victim was, because whoever he was, he was probably dead by now.
"Is there anybody you would like me to contact?"
They were sharing a couch, both of them staring blankly at the TV, there was no eye contact or physical contact between them, they were acting like robots waiting for their controller to order them to move.
Caroline avoided her question, and that only raised more questions for Demi, was her husband aware that she was here?
"Where is your sister? Knowing her, she would have come at me a long time ago."
"Excuse me?" Demi asked, turning her head towards her.
"Oh, please, cut the crap already, Demi! We both know that you know this baby is not Eric's," Caroline yelled.
"And why don't you just stand on top of the roof and scream to the entire world while at it?" Samantha's voice sliced through the air, and both women froze, the tension in the house multiplying tenfold.
It was as if there was a dark cloud following this woman, and it engulfed everyone in her presence.
"Excuse me," Caroline said and dashed upstairs.
Samantha took calculative steps forward and stood in front of the TV, blocking Demi's view. However, before she could say anything, Carmen ran into the room while holding her tablet.
"Demi, you have to see this!" She breathed.
Demi turned to her in panic. "What is it?" She asked.
"It is your sister, she just posted a new article."
Demi grabbed the tablet away from Carmen, and the moment she started reading, she had absolutely no doubt that Sasha had written that article. However, she did not knew whether to feel relieved or even more scared by this; she was happy to know that her sister was alive, but she was restless because Sasha might as well have dug her own grave.
She dropped the tablet on the coffee table and covered her face.
Samantha picked up the tablet and started reading the article, her face changing with every second. "Is your sister crazy?" She asked, waving the tablet in front of Demi. "What is this? A psycho on the loose?"
"Samantha, calm down, it's just an article," Carmen said.
"Don't tell me to calm down, Carmencita!" Samantha yelled, frightening the two women. "This article... what if she is right? What if there is a killer on the loose and they go after her, or worse, come after us?" She turned to Demi, warning in her eyes and voice. "Find a way to contact your sister and tell her to take down this article before all he'll breaks loose." She threw the tablet on the table and left the room.
Demi and Carmen shared a look, wondering what just happened.
'KILLER ON THE LOOSE
Sasha-Lee Van der Merwe
Cape Town is no place short of crime, with gang killings topping the charts. However, recent events are a whole new for Capetonians, from a mass killing at a cafe, to a poisoning accident, followed by the deaths of two hospital staff; one who was shot to death, and the other allegedly committing suicide.
Leah Adams, a nurse at the Netcare Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital, was found in the laundry room, hanging from a window burglar. According to sources, Ms Adams was involved in illegal dealings due to financial woes, thus leading to her death. According to these allegations, she was stealing medication from the hospital and selling them to drug dealers.
My concern is, does the hospital have proof to back their claims? How sure are they that she killed herself because of that? The deceased's husband says that the allegations are not true, he further said that he went to see her at the hospital an hour before her death and she looked fine and was happy because of their financial breakthrough.
Gary Sambula, a paramedic from the same hospital, as well as friend to the late Leah Adams, was also found dead this morning. His body was supposedly found in the back of his ambulance, where his stripped body was covered in bullet wounds. According to police reports, the shooting occurred while Gary was seating in the passenger seat of the ambulance. There was no trace of another victim or individual with him, but what is clear is that someone else was driving the ambulance when the shooting occurred. Who was behind the wheel and where could they be?
It is said that the vehicle had dents, showing that it was involved in a collision. The police also concluded that the shooting did not occur at the place where the ambulance was found.
The details around these deaths are questionable. Leah and Gary were good people, full of life and love, and known by many people, they had a lot to live for.
I firmly believe that the authority need to look at every single detail of these incidents because this could be a double homicide. There is a killer on the loose, a psychopath with a distinctive pattern; he or she either does not at all like getting their hands dirty, or they commit crimes and leave other people to take the fall.
A poisoning, a murder, and a suicide? That is too much of a coincidence. Find the killer before they strike again!'
