Marcus called on a Tuesday.
Aria was at her desk reviewing the community accountability framework draft — forty pages of policy and procedure that she'd been building for two weeks, the foundation of what the advisory board would use to hold Cole Enterprises to its commitments going forward. It was detailed, specific work that she found she liked more than she'd expected.
Her phone lit up with his name.
She looked at it for a moment. Then she answered.
"Marcus," she said.
"Aria." His voice was the same — dry, precise, the particular tone of someone who communicated information efficiently and didn't pad it. "I have something for you. Not urgent. But you should know."
"Tell me."
"I've been approached," he said. "By a law firm. Specifically their corporate whistleblower division." A p
