Chapter two
The internal carnation
As the thunder roared through the deep waters of the harsh ominous sea, the wind quickly became stronger. The waves were splashing upon the main deck as the privateers did everything they could to secure the ship. Trying to hold his hat steady, Jack yelled. ''Batten down the hatches!'' The only light that shined upon them were the moonlight, as their oil lamps slowly died out. ''It's impossible!'' Beamer yelled as he tried to secure the sail. ''They can hardly stand!'' Elizabeth had now joined the conversation, hanging from the main topgallant mast. She had a rope tied around her waist, making sure she wouldn't fall if the waves would throw the ship around.
''PULL!'' Standing on the upper deck, Jack pulled the rope, making her float towards the top. Swinging back and forth, Elizabeth slams her body into the mast. Biting the pain in her she tries to reach out towards it. As she finally caught it, blood were dripping from her right side of the head and she had now realized, she had hit her head on the mast as well.
The heavy rain made everything slippery and as the waves hit, the boom got loose. Trying to secure Elizabeth, Jack shouted”Boom about!”. It looked as though the crew danced as they tried to avoid a sudden death.
"Captain! We can't hold on much longer!" Beamers voice were filled with concern as he stood at the helm. With her fingers slipping, she secured the topgallant mast's sail. "Get someone to secure the boom!" Elizabeth yelled as she dangled in the air. Jack slowly got her down. As the boom swung around, Jack pulled Elizabeth in by her waist. Standing inches away from each other they made eye contact. "Hi" She whispered. "The boom almost got ye there" he whispered back.
‘’I guess ye saved me life then’’ ‘’I guess so’’ Jack gently stroked her back. ”I should probably go secure it" she blushed before running towards it. As the boom found its way back she jumped onto it.
Hanging on the side she yelled "BOOM ABOUT" The privateers duck as she flew over their heads. She grabbed onto the sail it were previously attached to with one hand. After what felt like hours; the crew came to help her secure it.
"What took ye so long!" Elizabeth yelled as they tied it up. "I could have been killed!" "Names Branson Captain. Have ye seen the deck?" Branson; a charming young lad with an eyepatch, short brown hair and ocean blue eyes.
”I've seen the deck! The boom could've killed us ye Bilge-sucking Landlubber!"
As the rain still poured down she pulled her sword out. "Whow Easy now Lassie!" Jack jumped in front of Branson. "It's a rookie Mistake." "Rookie mistake? Ye could've been dead! All of ye!"
She pointed her sword against Jack's throat. "The lad needs to learn his lesson one way or another Jack’'.
''Not like this! This is inhumane!'' He yelled. ''Now put that god damn sword down'' Holding the eye contact, she removed her sword from his throat. "He needs proper punishment, savvy?" Elizabeth growled. Jack took his hand out, reaching towards her. "And 'e will. I promise" "Don't promise something ye can't keep" as she walked towards the helm, the privateer from the crows nest yelled.
"Sail, Ho!"
Elizabeth immediately stopped mid-walk. "What ship!?" Jack yelled . Silence struck. Waiting for the answer Elizabeth yelled. "What god damn ship!?"
"T-The infernal-" "Carnation" she mumbled drifting into thought. "ALL HAND HOY!" Jack yelled. "Prepare Man-O-War!" "What, no?! We're already enough unsteady as it is" "Jack do you trust me?" Elizabeth were now facing Jack, calm as a clam. “I always have" "we need to do man-o-war.. Ye know ‘e knows I’m onboard" "ye heard ‘er! Prepare for war!" Beamer yelled from the helm.
Elizabeth smiled towards him as the crew emerged towards the equipments. As they pulled the cannons into position Elizabeth held onto the boom. "HEAVE HO" "remember to lock em in!" Beamer yelled as Jack took his place at the helm. "No one would be this foolish to attack under such a heavy storm!" Branson mocked Elizabeth. "Ye don't know The Infernal Carnation like Jack and I do. They'll stop at nothing." Branson looked a bit terrified.
"They're like ye?" Elizabeth nodded. "Exactly like me Branson" a vicious smile formed on her lips as she took out her sword once more. ‘’Which makes it more fun’’ she laughed as she looked towards the horizon. As the ship became clear in their eyesight the privateers waited for Elizabeth's signal.
‘’Remember one cannon at the time. we will never run out that way!’’ Jack shouted ”Steady!" Elizabeth yelled. They waited in anticipation. "Steady" As The Infernal Carnation prepared their cannons Elizabeth yelled. "FIRE!" "FIRE IN THE HOLE" the sound of cannons being shot went straight to their head. "FIRE IN THE HOLE" As Elizabeth watched the enemy ship fire their cannons, it sent a thrill down her spine. "RELOAD".
The Infernal Carnations privateers had tied robes to the booms, swinging back and forth enough, they would be able to climb onboard, and Elizabeth knew that this particular enemy, wasn't afraid of a little storm. Before they knew it, they were surrounded by climbing pirates. "Jack!" Elizabeth yelled as he came running towards her.
"It's been a long time since we last saw each other haven't it?" A tall figure landed in front of her. He slowly lifted up her chin, and as he looked into her eyes he smiled. His silky white shirt, were soaked by the rain, resulting it to stick to his well trained muscles. ”What do ye want Edward" she growled. She couldn’t help but glance upon him. His jawline were perfectly snatched, and even when his blue eyes were soulless, they still found a way to pull her in.
‘’Ye know what I want Eliza’’ Edward pulled her in by her waist, pressing their wet bodies against each other. ‘’Ye haven’t seen me in years; why now Eddie?’’ Her hand had found its way towards his chest. ‘’Ye’er mine lassie’’ Edwards voice were firm and filled with seduction. She couldn’t help but to bite her underlip. She quickly shook her head, trying to snap out of it. ‘’Ye know I’ve never belonged to ye’’
‘’Edward ye have no business here. Take ye privateers and leave’’ As Jack had reached them, he had taken out his sword. He knew that Elizabeth only had two small weaknesses. Edward and him. ‘’Look at Jack, all grown to the sky’’ Edward spins Elizabeth around, making her face Jack, still holding her close, he pulls a knife to her throat. As his eyes meets Jacks, he chuckles. ‘’Ye know she’s me business Jack’’ ‘’She haven’t been ye business for six years’’ ‘’She sure as ‘ell aren’t yours’’ ‘’Put down the knife Edward!’’ Without breaking the eye contact, Edward tossed Elizabeth to the side. ‘’Edward don’t!’’ She cried out as he drew his sword. ‘’I’ve had enough of ye’’ Jack growled as he lunged towards Edward. ‘’Ye know ye have no say in this ‘ere’’ Edward quickly barricaded Jack’s attack.
The thunder roared through the clouds as the sitting privateers, began fighting each other. Edwards sword cuts through the thick air, almost cutting Jacks arm.
As Jack tries to barricade his attack, he stumbles and falls to the ground. With a tightens grip around his sword, he points it toward Edward. No matter how the situation escalated, Jack didn’t give up fighting. You could simply say that Jack, were indeed blinded by Elizabeth, which he had been since their first encounter, and even though he knew he weren’t in Edwards ball league, he didn’t seem to care. He had finally found Elizabeth after all these years, and he didn’t want her to be taken away.
He didn’t care about the so called pirate code or any other code for that matter; even when Edward wanted her back after all those years away from her, he knew he didn’t have a say, he knew it would be against the pirate code to interfere or even to decline; and he would face a gruesome death in doing so. Even when he knew how Elizabeth had teared Edward apart in the past, he still had a bad feeling about them two, being alone.
‘’She’s not ye price to claim’’ Jack growled as he found himself up upon his feet once more. ‘’Eliza isn’t a prize ye picaroon’’ Edward chuckled as he finished his sentence. ‘’Besides; I’m only taking her home’’ Edward walked as close as he could, to Jack’s sword; taking the risk of getting impaled by the seconds. ‘’Step down Jack. Ye know this isn’t ye’r fight’’. As Jack sighed he lowered his sword, surrendering to Edward.
”Edward!” Elizabeth cried out, knowing Jack had dishonored the code and therefore had put himself in danger. "They won't get hurt" as Edward nodded, Elizabeth got picked up. "It was a pleasure doing business with you lads"
Edward smirked as they made their way back to their ship.

‘’Don’t be so sour’’ Edward grinned as he tossed her into one of the prison cells. ‘’Ye know ye belong to me’’ He smirked. ‘’Ye can’t prove it’’ Elizabeth growled. ‘’But I can Eliza-‘’ ‘’Ye can’t do s**t Eddie’’ She spitted out. ‘’Listen here ye little brat! Ye’er me wife! Ye do as I say; is that clear?!’’Edward yelled as he frustratedly hit the steel bars, which made Elizabeth go silent.
‘’Ye understand?’’ Edward sighed as he locked eyes with her. ‘’Ye might be me husband legally, but ye will never have me heart nor me support’’. ‘’God damn it Elizabeth! We have to honor the contract!’’ ‘’I burned that contract years ago Eddie.’’ Edward laughed as he shook his head. ‘’Did ye forget about the other documents?’’ ‘’No. Thats why I surrendered’’ She chuckled.
‘’I need ye document’’ ‘’We were happy once, why can’t we be happy again?’’ Edward stroked her cheek, slowly pulling her into a kiss. ‘’It wasn’t happiness, it was enforcement.’’ Elizabeth whispered under her breath. ‘’Ye knew it wasn’t’’ ‘’Stop trying to make a fairytale Eddie! Our fathers married us, nothing more; now let me go!’’ Edward quickly snapped her wrist. ‘’Don’t ye dare speak to me like that lassie! I’m ye husband!’’ Elizabeth slapped him across the face as she growled. ‘’Id rather die than spend one more minute with ye Edward’’ Edward sighed as he looked around the prison cell. The only light that shined upon them, were the oil lamp, hanging on the outer wall. The cell didn’t hold much value; the floor were simply covered by hay, so she wouldn’t get sick from the cold.
’’I’d never be good enough for ye will I?’’ ‘’Ye almost killed ye own brother!’’ ‘’Half brother’’ ‘’Jack’s still ye brother!’’ ‘’And me brother tried to f**k me wife!’’ Edward shouted. ‘’Ye don’t know what ye’er talking about’’ Elizabeth whispered under her breath. ‘’Jack’s always been jealous! ‘e has his eye on ye Eliza, ‘e always had’’ ‘’Ye’er lying ye bilge-sucking, scurvy dog!’’ Edward slammed Elizabeth’s body up against the wall behind her. His blonde coil’y hair elegantly bounced around his head and their bodies were pressed against one another.
Their breath slowly touched each other and their lips were inches away from meeting. ‘’I’ve had enough’’ His whisper sent goosebumps down her body and as they locked eyes his hand slowly found its way towards her lower lip. ‘’Ye’er me wife Eliza. Drop the attitude’’His voice were tender and full of seduction. He slowly stroked her face as a smile appeared on his lips. For a moment she thought about giving in.
Leaving her pride and join Edward and his privateers, leaving her ship behind, leaving Jack and Beamer behind, and a possible future where she could roam free. Elizabeth thought about giving it all up. She knew if she felt his touch once more, she couldn’t resist him, but she knew if she gave in, she wouldn’t be the feared pirate she had learned to be. She would be looked down upon as crack Jennys teacup, even if he were her husband, she had to remind herself it were only on paper, and nothing more.
Even when her heart screamed for him, she had to try to convince herself there weren’t any feelings for him. she couldn’t give up fighting for what she believed in. How her father had taught her to think or how to act. Even if she knew she had a chance to be happier with Edward she knew he would only come between her and her dreams.
As she were about to give in, a small voice appeared in her mind.’’Screw ye Edward’’ She whispered as she pushed him away. ‘’Ye could have stopped it’’ ‘’Ye know I couldn’t!’’ ‘’Ye chose not to, and I’ll never forgive ye for it’’ ‘’When will ye realize It wasn’t me fault!?’’ As he started walking towards her, she grabbed his arm and threw him up against the steel bars. ‘’We can’t wiggle ye out of this one’’ she growled as she hit him across the face. ‘’I’ll never be ye wife’’ He quickly found his balance, before throwing her onto the ground, forcing himself on top of her.
‘’If ye won’t obey I will have to detain ye’’ He quickly put the shackles around her wrists. ‘’Next time I spy ye, ye’d wish ye was dead’’ As Edward stood up, his glance danced upon her. Her breasts had almost ripped the top of her dress apart, and her eyes were filled with hatred towards him. He could feel how she despised him, even from afar he knew they probably couldn’t repair what once were whole, which made his anger grow stronger every second his eyes were upon her.
