Calliope's POV The stench of decay hit my nose as we walked through the portal. I was expecting the colorful, lively place I had seen in my dreams only to look out at a dead landscape. My aunts gasped behind me. I looked around, and all of the plants were dead. I could smell it. The sky above us was a sickly shade of yellow. I looked at Quill and his men. "What the hell happened?" Quill, who had been quiet ever since hearing about my mate, looked me up and down. "The king is dying, so that means the land is dying." He replied coldly. "Let's get you to the castle."
