By the time we pulled into the garage, my cheeks hurt from smiling. I turned off the engine and just sat there for a second, my hand still on the wheel. The deep, buzzing hum of adrenaline from driving something that was mine slowly started to ebb.
Kaelith, Isolde, and Elyria got out of the car. I took a moment to look over the interior again and then got out as well. Jax stood at the door going into the estate. “Well? What do you think?”
I closed the door gently, like I was afraid I’d break it somehow. “Smooth,” I said.
“Awesome sauce,” he said with a grin.
“Nobody says that anymore, Jax,” Holt said from behind Jax.
Jax feigned insult, “Dude, I am not a nobody.”
Holt ignores him, but I see him roll his eyes before focusing his attention on Kaelith and me. “Are you two ready?”
