I am leaving the cafeteria, walking through the halls of school to my next class. It’s five days until my birthday, and I am trying not to think of the things that could possibly happen or not happen. Will it be the same as the last couple of years? No. No it won’t. I won’t be at Linda and Glen’s home, watching them shower Kaelith with affection and expensive, top of the line, newest model things. While I got the model 2 years prior, it was on sale. I won’t be alone in a dorm, with a sad little cupcake that the cafeteria ladies told me to take.
I slowly skirt around a group of giggling girls who are taking up more of the hallway than necessary. Then I caught a few of their words as I finally got around the group.
