Morning arrived under a heavy silence.
The storm had passed, but the valley felt different. Even the wolves moved quietly as if they sensed the danger growing beyond the mountains.
Lena stood near the sanctuary entrance beside Kael.
“You heard Eira,” Kael said quietly.
“Malakar is waking.”
Lena rubbed her temples.
“So Selene isn’t the real threat?”
Kael hesitated.
“She’s still dangerous.”
Eira approached them slowly.
“But Malakar is something far worse.”
Lena sighed.
“This just keeps getting bigger.”
At that moment Ronan stepped into the clearing behind them.
“You’re finally understanding the problem,” he said.
Kael frowned.
“You’re still here?”
Ronan shrugged.
“Because this fight won’t stay inside your valley.”
He looked toward Lena.
“If Malakar rises, every wolf pack and witch coven will be involved.”
Lena felt the weight of his words.
“So what happens now?”
Eira turned toward the mountains rising above the valley.
“The Moonborn must unite the wolves.”
Kael glanced toward Ronan.
“That might be difficult.”
Ronan smirked slightly.
“Not if she chooses the right allies.”
Lena looked between the two Alphas.
For the first time she realized something terrifying.
This war would decide more than the fate of Blackwood Valley.
It would decide which Alpha stood beside the Moonborn when the final battle began.
