Chapter 22

3092 Words

Chapter 22 Matt took the left, hit the lights, and floored it. Josh watched the houses flash by them, and suggested, “Don’t use the sirens. Let’s pull up quiet.” Matt nodded, and took the right so fast the car fishtailed. He came close to spinning out before he straightened, and sped toward the gaudy orange sign of the Highway Inn. He eased off the gas so the tires wouldn’t squeal when he stopped. The car was barely parked before Josh was out of it, and racing up the walkway to the office. Matt was right behind him. They saw a tall, thin man waving at them from behind the counter. Josh entered so fast, he nearly knocked the old glass door off its hinges. When they reached the counter, the guy pointed to a staircase on his left. “Room twelve. She took him in there fifteen minutes ago.”
