Chapter 26 The ringing phone woke Josh. He fumbled on the nightstand for his cell, and grimaced in pain. It was Matt. When he slid his finger across the screen to answer, he realized with a jolt that it was eleven o’clock. Holy s**t, he never slept this late! “Hey.” He grunted as he sat up, then leaned back against the headboard as a wave of pain crashed through his back and chest. “I’ll be there in a half hour.” “I’m not at the station,” Matt replied, then laughed. “Guess you’re not, either. You sound like you woke up dead.” “If I was dead, everything wouldn’t hurt.” Josh reached under the sheet, carefully touched his balls, and winced. “And I mean everything.” “Walters was right. That woman was strong… goddamned strong.” “Yeah. So are you all right? I tried to call you last night.”
