26Wednesday Harry called from Denver. “The deed is done, Katybird. We’ll close Monday. I’ll be home tomorrow evening. Meet me at the house for a swim and a nice quiet board game? Something violent, with conquering and r**e?”
Kate laughed. “Sure, but where shall we eat?” she asked. “We can’t use the kitchen yet except for the microwave.”
“Champagne and take-out Sichuan?”
She laughed. “I think I can handle that, Master.”
“Will the pool heater be working?”
“I’ll make sure the grounds maintenance guys get it warmed up. But it doesn’t sound as if you need any help in that department,” she said. “Will you want them to hang around and watch us, Master?”
“Jesus, Kate! Do NOT taunt me, girl.”
“Does that mean I’ll get a spanking?”
“Yes. A much more severe one than you got the other night.”
