I stepped into the room immediately.
I saw a figure in the bed,It was so hideous and unrecognizable.
“Umm where is my dad?” I asked the doctor who was right behind me.
He pointed at the figure lying in the bed.
I was dumbfounded.
“M..My d..dad? I stuttered.
“Yes don’t worry you will fine kid”. he replied why nodding his head. He opened the door and left us alone.
I rushed to the bed and look at my dad who I could barely recognize.
“Dad, dad? I called out to him.
He slowly opens his eyes and looked at me.
“Sam? He asked.
“Yes dad” I said with tears flowing down my cheeks.
He held out his hand and I quickly reached out and took it.
He raised his hand and tried to clean my tears.
I reached out and held his hand carefully.
I was so nervous that I couldn’t stop shaking.
“How is your mom”
“She is fine” I replied him.
“Sam?
“Yes dad”.
“no matter what will happen in this life never forget that your dad loves you, don’t forget that I love you and your mom so much.
“We love you too dad” I replied to while kissing his hand with tears adorning my cheeks.
“You both made me complete, you were all I hoped for, the best thing that happened in my life was having your as my wife and you as my daughter. I couldn’t ask God for more because you were enough for me.
“Same here dad. You are the best dad in the world. I love so much and we will grow old together with mum” I said while sniffing.
“ I want you to make a promise to me”. He asked while trying to clean my tears.
“Anything for you dad”
“ Promise me that you will take care of your mother. She is weaker than she appears. Always make her happy okay?
“ I promise to take care of you and mom.” I said why looking at him and wondering why he was exempting himself.
“ will you promise daddy that no matter what happen his little princess will never give up life?
“ yes dad I promise to make you proud?
“ pinky promise? He asked while raising his hand.
“ yes I pinky promise. I said and lock my little finger with his.
He asked me to placed my head on his chest and put the hair on my face behind my ear.
“ dad? I called him.
“ yes my princess.”
“ when are we going back home You remember I have to celebrate my birthday tomorrow, and this hospital smells a lot”. I said why wrinkling my nose.
“ soon my princess, we will go home as soon I recover too celebrate my princess birthday Okay?”.
“Okay I love you”. I said and pecked him.
“Sam?.
“ yes dad”.
“Where’s your mom?”he asked me.
“Ssshe is at home” I quickly replied.
“ Why is she not here with you?
“ Umm she was asleep when I left the house”. I told him. Trying to keep up a calm face while my heart was in a marathon race.
“Tell me the truth Samatha” he said with a firn voice.
“She... she”. I stopped halfway.
“ she what?”
“She...she f.. fain.. fainted when she received the call from the 911. I said why panicking. Scared that he will also faint.
“ which room was she admitted he asked me.
“ she is in the ICU dad”.
“ whenever she wakes up tell her that I love her so much that her presence in my life was a blessing.he said and exhaled.
“ can you do that for me?
“ yes I will tell mum everything you said.”
“ that’s my girl. He said and patted my head.
“can you go and call and call the doctor?
“Sure wait for me I will be right back okay?
“ okay”
I quickly left his room and went out to look for the doctor. In my haste I made a wrong turn and went to another part of the building meant for pregnant women.
“Umm please where is the doctor’s office”.I asked a nurse who was passing by.
“ which doctor kid?” She asked.
“Aish I sighed when I realized that I didn’t know the doctor’s name.
“I don’t know his name, but I think he is in charge of the burnt patients? I said in an unsure voice.
“ please can you direct this kid to Dr Brian office?”.She asked another nurse.
“Sure, this way kid”. She said and led me away from there.
After a walk of twenty minutes we Finally got to his office. I knocked at door.
“Who is there? He asked.
“ it’s Samatha Maxwells”.
“You can come in”
I opened the door after I heard his response.
“ my dad said I should call you”. I told him.
“Did you tell him about your mom? He asked.
“Yes he insisted to know her whereabouts, so I had to tell him.
“What was his reaction?
“ nothing he just said that I should tell her that he loves her when she wakes up.”
“What else did he say?”
“ he said I should call you.
I would have come earlier than this just that I lost my way when trying to locate your office.
“Like how many many minutes did you spend coming to my office when you left his room?”.
“Like 40 minutes “. I estimated.
“ holy shit.”he said why rushing out.
