SAM POV
When I got home I sneaked back to my and jump on my bed.
“He has the bluest eyes I had ever seen,urrg shut up”.I said while palming my face.
“ He will stop talking to me when he find out . I said to my myself with tears in my eyes.
Eli is the first guy to hold such a long conversation with me after that incident.
Normally I don’t have friends after shaina my classmate whom I thought was my friend exposed my family secret, nobody wanted to mingle or talk to me anymore. They saw me as a bad luck nerd.
My name is Samatha Maxwells and am 13 years. Am the only child of my parents.
My mum stopped having kids after my birth. She had a postpartum infection after my birth but it was treated late because she discovered it late. She almost died when having the surgery for the treatment of the postpartum infection. She advised by the medical professionals to forfeit having another child in order to avoid another life threatening situation.
As the only child of the maxwells, I was the center of their focus. I never lacked nor want because I had everything at my fingertips. I attended the best school in town. Reason being that I deserved the best only.
Everything was so smooth and beautiful in my family till a tragic event that destroyed it.
On Thursday mid morning , a day before my 11th birthday. My mum and the servants was very busy trying to arrange the house for my birthday.
I was on the sofa eating some chocolate while watching the television.
“Zzzzzzz” the phone suddenly rang out beside me.
“Mum you’ve got a call” I yelled.
“Am coming sweetie. She replied.
Before she could reach the phone stopped ringing.
“Zzzzzz” it rang for the second time and my mum picked the call.
“ hello please am I speaking with Mrs Maxwells?” A lady behind the phone asked.
“Yes am Mrs Maxwells how may I help you?.
“Mrs Maxwells you are required to come to Peace and Well-being Hospital, your husband was admitted. He was a victim of a fire incident”
“Mom! I screamed when I saw my mum falling down and she started convulsing.
“Mom? Mom? Can you hear me?
“Hello? Hello Mrs Maxwells?.
I suddenly heard a voice coming from the phone I quickly picked the phone up.
“Hello who are you? I asked.
“This is 911”
“ ok am Sam and my mum is on the floor convulsing can you come and help her.
“Okay dear can you give me the address of your house and we will be there in a jiffy?
“Yes” I said and quickly gave her our address.
I went back to my mum and pressed my head on her chest.
“B...a..d..u..m” I heard a weak heartbeat.
“Mom please can you wake and give me a kiss and tell me that you’re alright?
“Mom? I started crying when she didn’t answer me.
“Wau wau wau” I suddenly heard the ambulance and ran out of the house to meet them. They rush in with a stretcher and placed my mum in it. I climbed in our car and our family butler zoomed off after the ambulance.
On reaching the hospital my mum was rushed to the ICU and was placed on oxygen because she stopped breathing.
While in the waiting roomI was shaking nervously like a dried leaf.
I suddenly remembered hearing that my dad was in the hospital. I stopped a nurse and asked her where I can meet my dad. She took me to the receptionist who asked for my name.
“Am Samatha Maxwells. I replied her.
“ okay can you wait a few seconds let me ask the doctor if you can see your dad?”
“Okay”
She called the doctor who came out of his office and took me inside his office.
“So you’re Samatha Maxwells?
“Yes I am”
“ I see”. he said while nodding his head
“Your father had third degree of burns so it may be very difficult for you to bear.” He dropped a bombshell.
“ my dad was burnt?”
“Yes” he affirmed.
“ How? what caused the fire? I asked trembling.
“ the police are still investigating the place of the accident.
“Can you do me a favor? He asked out of the blue.
“ Umm what? I asked.
“ your dad had a history of heart disease he can’t take any shocking news now, so we need to keep your mother’s coma a secret.
do you mean that I shouldn’t tell him that my mum fainted and she is in the same hospital with him?
“Yes to prevent him going into shock state”.
“ okay so Can I see him now? already getting a cold feet at the thought of lying to my dad.
“Okay sure lets go” he said and stood.
I followed suit and stood up too.
He opened the door and allowed me to step out first.
After We walk down the corridor we took a turn down to the ICU ward. And soon We reached my dad’s room.
“Take in a deep breath” he told me.
“Okay” I said and took a long and deep breath.
“Exhale “ he Said with a hand movement.
I Exhaled.
“Are you ready?.
“Yes I am”.
He then Opened the door.
