Larissa's POV
Eventually, Mr. Carter pulled up to the front of the house.
“Get in,” he instructed. “I'll take you home.”
I got in without a word of protest. “Take me to my parents home, please,” I mumbled. “I'll tell you the address.”
“I know the address,” Mr. Carter said, and we drove in silence.
“Thanks, Mr. Carter,” I muttered, as soon as we pulled up in front of my parents house.
Mr. Carter nodded in response, and I stepped out.
I took in a deep slow breath to steady my nerves, and mentally prepare myself to face my parents. I didn't do anything wrong, but I'm sure as hell they'll be disappointed for having birthed such a foolish daughter.
Sighing one last time, I made my way to the front porch, and knocked.
Just as I was about to knock for the second time, the familiar sound of a vehicle made me stop midway, as I could recognize that car sound even in my sleep.
Benjamin.
I turned around, to see Benjamin and Londyn stepping out.
Rage like I've never known coursed through my veins, as I clenched my fist so hard, till my knuckles turned white.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” I demanded, staring daggers at the both of them.
“This is my parents house too, Larissa,” Londyn said with a smirk, as she held Benjamin by the arm and they made their way to the front porch. “I have every right to be here.”
“You both are not only shameless, but–”
“All of you, inside. Now,” my mother whispered harshly as she opened the front door. “This is not a conversation to be had on the front porch.”
I exhaled, as I considered leaving for a brief moment.
But I decided against it, I needed to tell my part of the story. I can't allow Benjamin to destroy my relationship with my parents, and as for Londyn, well, I hope my side of the story makes her see Benjamin for who he really is.
Benjamin and Londyn stepped inside first, before I did, and as soon as I closed the door behind me my father spoke.
“Can anyone explain to me what the f**k happened while we were gone?” My father looked between me and Londyn. “The first time your mother and I decide to take some time to ourselves, everything has descended into chaos!” He barked. “Londyn you're engaged to your sister's fiance, and Larissa–” he looked over at me. “You're being tried for murder?!”
“Honey, your blood pressure,” my mother reminded my dad softly, but he wasn't having any of it.
“Someone better starts talking, or I swear–!”
“Benjamin and I are in love,” Londyn said, before I could say a word, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
“Love?” My father scoffed in disbelief, even he found it laughable. Who wouldn't? Less than two months after your sister being locked up you're engaged to her fiance? Oh well. “So, this so-called love, is the reason you lied about your sister being too swamped with work to reach out to us?”
I shook my head in disbelief as I looked over at Londyn who was clinging to Benjamin like he was some sort of life support.
“I didn't want to ruin your vacation,” Londyn said in a trembling voice. “You and mum finally had time to yourselves since getting married. If I had told you guys about Larissa's trial, you'd have rushed back.”
“That's not your decision to make!” My dad flared.
“Please don't blame Londyn, Mr. Knowles,” Benjamin finally spoke. “Everything happened so fast, and she only had your best interest at heart,” Londyn pressed her lips together as she nodded in agreement. “But one thing I can tell you guys is that I really do love Londyn, and–”
I laughed. “Love?” I looked over at Benjamin, and for the first time I could truly see him for who he was, a manipulator. “Two months ago Benjamin, we were making plans about our future together, and now you open your mouth to say you're in love with my sister?” My voice trembled, and I hated every bit of it, but I didn't back down. “Tell me Benjamin, what love?” I slowly made my way towards him, tears brimming in my eyes. “Is it the same love that made you throw me to the wolves? Or the same love that made you coerce me into admitting a murder I didn't commit?”
