Chapter 30 He explained what this island was. I never thought that there was an island like this in our country. One of his friends owned the whole island and just sold the other part to them and offered to be an investor. That’s why now, they’re a group running it together. The EI Hotel where we stayed was built because of their brotherhood. I don’t know what kind of association they have. He didn’t tell me what kind of brotherhood they have, but he told me that half of the income from this island will go to many charities. Elite people who want to enjoy their lives have gathered here. For views, sightseeing, vacations, relaxation, and most especially for their carnal desires. I didn’t ask if this island was illegal. But the fact that they were helping people in need using rich people’s money makes me feel at peace at some point. I like to give even just a small help to other people because that’s all I can afford. And if I look at this island, I’d probably faint if I found out how much they actually earn. And half of that is given away to others. Maybe because aside from this, they each have their own businesses. According to him, the island has a strict system administrator and security. You can’t just come and go whenever you want. As long as the vehicle is not known to the operators, they will receive a warning. If they continue despite the warning, then it’s a war. “Does that mean even married people are welcome here?” He answered me with a nod. You want to cheat? It’s usual here, but they have to check your background before they sign your membership. Medications are required for safe s*x. They also need to check your family’s background. If you want to be a member here, your life is like an open book to them. While members have no idea who’s running or who owns the island. “What if their spouses don’t know? Doesn’t that weigh on the conscience?” “It’s up to them. If they choose to be one of the members here because they’re looking for satisfying s*x, that means they chose to cheat. This is our business, and we don’t have to care about their personal lives. And one more thing: not everyone here is looking for good s*x. Almost half of the members just want to have fun and try adventurous places here.” Hmm. I nodded. “Most of the members here are escaping from the toxic places or stressful environments they came from. In this place, there is no pressure, and you can do anything you want. They’re free, and there are many places to go aside from inside the hotel and the beach.” “No restrictions?” “Every place has its own rules and guidelines. Same here. Securities are watching twenty-four hours. We also have a lot of people pretending to be civilians to secure the whole island. And if you’re caught doing something prohibited, it’s either forfeiting your membership or surrendering you to jail.” “Like doing illegal drugs?” He stopped cooking just to pinch my cheeks. “Of course. That is obviously illegal.” “But this island is also illegal itself?” I was confused. He went back to cooking and left me at the table. “Nope. Since when was s*x illegal? We don’t offer prostitution or s*x trade here. It only becomes illegal if it’s forced, and we don’t allow that here.” I stood up and went closer to peek at what he was cooking. “Have you had s*x with some girls here?” He turned his head sideways to look at me but didn’t answer. “It’s ready.” I pouted. Aside from Addisson, it seemed like he had a lot of girls. Well, he wasn’t serious with Addisson before, so it’s not impossible that aside from her, Lennox also met with other women. I pouted more when he poured the food into plates and pulled me to sit at the table so we could start eating. “How many girls have you brought here to your room?” He chuckled, then handed me the utensils. “Just one. It’s only you. Stop asking about my past or about this island, and just start eating.” He pushed the plate full of food he cooked toward me. “Is this just for me? You’re not gonna eat?” He shook his head. “I’ll just watch you eat.” I pursed my lips. We were about to go out and just waiting for his friends’ call. He cooked while we’re waiting because I complained that I'm hungry. “Eat with me. You cooked too much,” I said and pushed the plate toward him after taking one bite. He laughed softly and reached for the spoon I used so he could eat too. We sat across each other, the plate of food was between us. We took turns reaching for the cutlery and taking a bite until we finished it all. When his friends called, we went down right away. We caught up with them in the building’s lobby. Everyone was standing except for Enzo, who looked sleepy, his head resting against the couch, eyes closed. Jax, on the other hand, went ahead outside when he saw us, with a girl in his arms. He was the only one who had a girl with him, aside from Lennox who had me. We all got on just one yacht. The air was cool, it’s blowing my hair. We were all downstairs except for Mason, who was upstairs talking with the one operating the yacht. Lennox kept glancing at me from the other end while talking with his friends. He said something to Jax, and the latter tossed two canned drinks toward Lennox. The girl hanging on Jax’s neck was kissing him. I shook my head when they made out. The girl was just with us, but he didn’t even introduce her. “Hey, bored?” Lennox handed me the canned juice. He opened the canned alcohol for himself. “Not really.” He caged me between his arms. I leaned on the railing, his hands planted on either side of me. “What’s your dream?” I laughed at his sudden question. The corner of his lips lifted into a grin, and he drank from his can of alcohol. “Seriously, what’s your dream?” I smiled, drank from the juice in my hand, then answered him. “After I graduate, I’ll apply to be a flight attendant.” “So, your dream is to be a flight attendant?” he asked, looking at me, very interested. “Yes. So I can travel to different countries.” “That’s it?” “What do you mean ‘that’s it’? I’ve wanted this for a long time!” “I can take you wherever you want to, with your family, if you want.” “But I said I wanted to be a flight attendant!” I frowned. “Oh?” He arched his brow. “I thought you just wanted to be a flight attendant so you could experience going to other countries?” “Yes! I want to go to many countries, and I also like that job!” He smiled when I scowled. “Alright.” He laughed. “Why are you getting mad?” He helped brush my hair aside that the wind kept blowing across my face. I laughed too because I was raising my voice at him over such a silly conversation. “Do you really need to work? What if we get married? You’ll rarely come home because you’ll often be abroad?” I put down the juice I was drinking because of what he said. What did he say? What if we get married? I wasn’t even thinking about marriage, but he already was? “There’s . . . vacations, right? Or days off?” “Your leave for days or even for weeks won’t be enough. If you become my wife, what I want is when I come home from work, you’ll welcome me and cook for me every day.” “Well . . .” I thought for a moment. “Why are we even talking about this? Do you already want to get married?” He shrugged. “If you want to?” I looked away and bit my lip. It’s been etched in my mind for so long that I’d become a flight attendant. But now, because of what he said, I suddenly thought of alternative work in case I couldn’t work on a plane. I gasped at the thought. If that’s the case, I’m actually considering what he said? His plan? Him coming home tired from work, and I’ll welcome him? I bit my lips and blushed when I imagined the two of us. “Are you blushing? What were you thinking?” I shook my head and turned my back to him to face the wide ocean. The heat of his chest pressed against my back right away as he closed the little space between us. From behind me, his arms wrapped around me. He rested his chin on my shoulder and peeked at me. “Why are you blushing? Are you thinking about my proposal?” I turned my head sideways to meet his gaze. Since I met him, so many of the things I wanted changed. “Proposal? What do you mean?” I asked calmly, but my heart couldn’t calm anymore. “Well, you see. I’m talking about us getting married because I’m proposing now.” I held my breath with every word he spoke. It’s like his lips parted in slow motion, and the words came out slowly. “We’re here, love birds!” I finally exhaled the breath I was holding when Jax suddenly smacked Lennox hard on the shoulder. He let go of me to rub the spot that his friend hit hard. “Proposing on a yacht? That’s cringey!” he said, laughing as he went down toward the cave we were headed to. “Dickhead,” Lennox muttered irritably. They all went down. We followed, Lennox still scowling because of Jax’s interruption.
