Don't Go Away

Romaisa grabbed her towel from the room and wrapped herself in the coziest bathrobe. Her hair was still damp, which she found mildly annoying and messy, but it had nothing on what she would be facing later in the evening if they didn’t get a move on. The hot water was already running in the shower, so it wasn’t like she was going to take more than a minute or two of soaking. If that time went by without at least some sort of relief, well, she would just have to make do with what little she had right now. It wasn’t like the bath was very cold in this weather anyway. After she had gotten out of the shower, she toweled off, combed her teeth, brushed her hair and put on her nightwear—just a short sleeve t-shirt and sweats—and sat down on the bed to watch one of those old movies she liked to keep up with. She usually spent more time with her laptop, watching seasons or reading books, but when her cat zoe had been injured and she hadn’t been there to keep him company, she ended up spending the entire day alone instead. She wanted to drop a message to Moez. He gave her the most precious night of her life. He was the CEO but for her, he was the Moez who wasn't afraid to show her his softer side. As she opened up her phone, scrolling aimlessly through her contacts until she found his name, though, she couldn’t help but smile. They were dating, yes, but even so, they still didn’t know all that much about each other. After months of having him as a boyfriend, it felt weird to talk about their relationship like he was still her best friend. He had changed too since he first showed up at the shop, grown into himself, and become someone who she loved more than anything else. He was her partner, her everything, and it was something she looked forward to doing every single day. The thought made her pause before sending him another message. It’s my turn, you said you wouldn’t interrupt me if I watched something else…right? I promise to stop texting if it gets boring! :) -Romaisa She waited anxiously for his response, hoping against hope that he was still awake, listening. It wasn’t until after she sent her last message that he finally replied. Of course you can watch whatever you want, darling. I love hearing your voice. Goodnight, love!! :* -Moez She smiled at her phone screen. As she applied body butter on her soft legs, she remembered how he touched her skin and made her feel the rush of emotions, flowing through her body. She missed him terribly and knew he did too, but sometimes it was hard to remember that things could change. She wished it wouldn’t, though. She wished it would stay the same forever. The only thing holding them back, she reminded herself. It’s better to enjoy what we have while it lasts, right? A new message came in. Her heart skipped a beat. I’m sorry for waking you up. I will watch a video, no problem! Goodnight again, sweetheart! With her heart pounding in her ears, her face flushed red, she sent the following messages: Goodnight, Moez. See you tomorrow :) -Romaisa The rest of the night was full of texts and pictures, mostly from her, talking about random things, occasionally making funny faces as she tried to imitate an animal they encountered on the street. When he asked why, she explained that Moez’s cats are cute and made him smile fondly. She also told him about her favorite movie from when she had been studying under him and how she loved spending time with him. She fell asleep with a smile on her lips. In the morning, when she got dressed and left her apartment, she saw that Moez had texted her back. He said he wasn’t coming to the company today, and was leaving for Greece for 5 days. Romaisa became sad reading that text. She didn't want to go to the office and not find him there. She wanted him close to her, even if nobody in the office knew how close they were. She wondered what he was doing on his trip, if he had met his parents and siblings yet. She hoped he enjoyed being alone as much as she did. *** On Wednesday afternoon, she sat down in front of her computer. As she opened up Skype, she glanced around her living room to see that her plants had survived the storm and were growing again. A lot more than usual. She clicked on the notification and watched patiently as the Skype app connected. Her finger hovered over the call button, ready to press it, when her eyes landed upon Moez’s contact picture. She hesitated; would he answer her? But then a text arrived at the top of the screen, informing her that there was no way she should call him. She scrolled past the screen and pressed the decline key. His words from yesterday echoed in her head. He isn’t interested. He was the father of her son. She had no contact with him since 2 years. Well, if that was true that he didn't want to see her, she might as well leave him alone. She wasn’t trying to get involved in his private business or whatever. Instead, she decided to spend a little bit of quality time with some YouTube videos and a book. It was the last weekend of her vacation and she wanted to have fun without distractions. There was a new season on Netflix she wanted to try. Hailey was in Greece these days. She wanted to spend some time alone in Greece, with her son Alex. Alex was 2 years old. He was the son of the Buisness Tycoon, Moez Kahn. Hailey and Moez had a dirty little secret, and Hailey helped Moez escape the authorities. What happened after he helped her escape? Well.. Let me take you back..
