"Runnnnnnn"
"I... I....I can't... can't... run.... an...y...mo.
ree.." Moez was panting hard and trying to catch his breath.
She came close to him, grabbing his neck by her hand and took him to the side.
He was running from the authorities and she was his only escape.
Hailey took off her jacket and put that over both of them, and grabbed him by his waist, kissing him like a wild lover.
"You're safe now, baby. Let's get you out of here." Hailey said, smiling at Moez with a sadistic look on her face, and she took the boy away from the police officers who were chasing them.
They walked around for a while in silence. They weren't speaking.
The night was dark and hazy, they had no idea where they were going. It seemed to be the same street Moez lived on all his life, but he wasn't sure anymore.
As soon as Moez thought it would have been better if he died, and had been killed, they finally stopped. She took him down to the ground, pulling his legs onto her shoulders, and sat him down on the wall of a building. The streetlights casted a faint light on them and Hailey leaned over and kissed him again, and this time more passionately.
Moez was breathing heavily and weakly. He didn't know what to say or what to think, everything was happening so fast.
She looked at him with sad eyes.
"It was my fault," she whispered. "If I hadn't brought you in my home, then none of this would have happened. And you wouldn't have ended up like this"
He tried to say something, but the words stuck in his throat and refused to come out.
"It's none of ours fault. Calm down hunn".
She tried to calm him down.
She stroked his hair softly and slowly began to sing some nonsense song. She didn't know any of the lyrics, but it did seem like something his mother used to sing to him when he was little.
She sang softly into his ear until she felt his heartbeat slow down and his breathing became normal. Then she got up and pulled him into her arms.
Moez held on tightly to her, afraid that she was leaving him. But she didn't.
"Thank you, mrs...?" he asked shyly. "Hailey."
"Thank you, Hailey, I really mean it."
She hugged him and kissed his forehead gently.
"Don't worry, you'll feel good again, I promise"
She took him in her arms and held him against her chest, and just watched him sleep.
After a long time, she realized that he wasn't even breathing, or moving.
And it scared her to death.
She laid him back down on the cold concrete floor, taking his blood stained jacket. She took off his shirt next and made him comfortable before laying back next to him.
He woke up shortly after, looking confused and scared.
"Are we still at your house? Where are we?"
"We're at my house, sweetheart", Hailey replied. "You passed out because of exhaustion. You need to rest."
She helped him lay down and covered him with the blanket that was lying nearby. He looked at her with those blue eyes of his, and for once she could see herself reflected in them.
She kissed him lightly on the lips. "Get some sleep, you have school tomorrow."
He nodded and closed his eyes. His breathing got slower and slower, until eventually it was quiet enough that you could hear your own heartbeat.
Hailey left the room quietly and closed the door behind her.
Once outside, she took off her jacket and threw it into a trashcan. She then put her head down and sighed in relief. It was almost done!
When she was about to walk away, the police cars parked outside of the building came towards her direction.
"Police! Freeze!"
She turned and saw two officers pointing their guns at her and approaching her quickly.
Before the first shot could reach her, a gunshot rang out loud and echoed through the street.
She raised her hand and pointed her middle finger upward to them.
"b***h ass pigs!", she shouted, making the cops' ears ring and surprise.
One of the officers ran toward her, trying to pull her away from the other one, but the second officer was faster. He aimed the gun and started firing at her.
"STOP!"
Both cops froze immediately, their hands shaking.
"Hands in the air, asshole.", one of the officers ordered calmly.
"f**k YOU!!", she spat at them, and continued walking.
When she finally reached the end of the street, she heard footsteps coming after her.
"You're not gonna get away, b***h. Come with us."
"f**k you! Go to hell!"
With that she disappeared into the darkness of the night.
The cops followed her, and Moez slept peacefully in Hailey's room, hidden from the cops.

He stood in front of his mirror and touched his reflection's cheek. He smiled at his reflection, a small scar on his cheek contrasting nicely with the soft skin.
His parents told him he looks much older than his age since that day. He doesn't know what it is, maybe it has something to do with the way his parents talk to him, but whatever it is, he likes it. Because he sees himself and his mom's side of the family instead of seeing what his dad has seen.
He remembers one time when he was six years old, and was visiting them for Thanksgiving dinner. His mom cooked a beautiful turkey, as always, and served the meal to everyone, even though there weren't many people at their house.
His dad was talking loudly and joking with the others when suddenly someone started crying.
He heard the gunshots and ...
