My eyes slowly open adjusting to the sunlight lighting up my room. My eyes squint when a silhouette of an animal sitting on my windowsill. Startled, I sit up rubbing my eyes then let my eyes fall onto the cat that I could now see more clearly. "Oh, dear cat, you scared me." I whisper walking over to pick the furry stranger up.
"Where did you come from?" I ask and get purrs in return, leaving my bedroom making my way to the kitchen with my new friend still in my arms. Her soft fur gently caressing my hands while holding her.
I shout out for my dad, hoping he's already awake because those stairs are a workout in the morning and I'm really not in the mood.
"I'm making coffee!" shouting again, flipping the switch on the kettle. Still holding the Cat, I open the fridge and scan it for anything I could give to peaches to eat.
Yes I named her peaches.
"Good morning pumpkin and..." dad looks at the cat in my arms and then over at me " ... and friend" he continues. He takes over and makes coffee for the both of us.
"So I've asked Mary to move in, she is the only one that knows about Kelsey and she looks after Kels very well, she can have the spare room here downstairs." He says simply walking over to me with two cups of coffee as he places one in front of me.
"Is there anything we can give peaches to eat?" I ask dad, ignoring everything he just said. I'm honestly not interested in the choices he makes for our family because at the end of the day he's still not home.
"There is some leftover fish in the little container in front of you" He said with annoyance in his voice, clearly the reason being me ignoring his mention of Mary moving in.
I put peaches onto the table placing the container in front of her. She pushes her nose flat onto the container and meows so loudly it startled both me and dad. We look at each other and start laughing while peaches continue to meow loudly.
I flip the container open and watch her devour the fish. She's clearly enjoying it. Her black and brown fur glistening in the early morning light and bright green eyes filled with, I think, happiness... well only because she's eating now.
"Get her off the table Clauds." Dad demands standing from his chair.
The cat runs to me standing on back paws with her front paws on my chest as she give dad a threatening hiss. I look at dad and giggle.
"I guess she gives the orders now" I say to dad picking peaches up and walking to the sink with the now empty container.
"We can't keep her, she might belong to someone else" he said waving me off.
His suit looks neat, three top buttons undone with a blue blazer and the matching blue suit pants along with his fancy, polished shoes. His hair combed back showing his ocean blue eyes.
"I won't be home so get some pizza for dinner" he says pacing for his keys and rushing out.
"Mom just died and you're running off to work!" I shout as I hear the door slamming shut.
"He's an asshole sometimes, don't you think?" I ask peaches rubbing down on her fur, looking back at the front door, a feeling of disbelief and anger start forming in my body and soul.
Another meow is all I get but she's still cute so I'll accept the short answer this time.
I wonder if she really does belong to someone and how she even managed to get in my room.
I shake the thoughts away and put peaches down onto the floor in the kitchen and make my way to my room.
The sound of my phone ringing fills the silence and I run to answer it.
"Hello?" I forgot to check caller ID.
"Hello baby. How are you feeling?"
Oh. My. Gosh. My boyfriend. Michael Bleek.
"I'm okay, okay as I can be. I feel kind of lost though. I need my life to be busy so it can distract me from my thoughts" I say giving long sigh. Any distraction would help me forget the pain.
"I'm almost by your house, we're going for breakfast so get ready" he says, I can hear his smile through the phone.
"I need to shower!" I shout hanging up the call and running to my bathroom.
"Good Morning miss Claudia!" I hear Mary shout from the other side of my bathroom door and I return the greeting before getting into the shower.

After my shower, which by the way, felt like it took forever, I made my way to my closest.
Looking for my black stockings that I can wear with my little black dress and my black timberland knee high boots.
I love black.
I attempt to dry my hair but my curls are just getting even more frizzy and no one has ever seen my frizzy hair for the last nine years and I wasn't planning on letting Michael see my unruly curls.
I get my hair hot iron and start pulling through my hair strand by strand until it's perfectly straight.
"Hey babe, I'm here" I hear Michael say tapping on the bathroom door making my heart race at the sound of his angelic voice.
Michael hasn't met Kelsey either or even knew about her. I guess it's a good thing dad doesn't like hanging family photos up.
"I'll be out in a minute" I say, thinking of any possible reason my father refuses to have our photos up.
After getting all dolled up, I walk out of the bathroom to see Michael sitting on my bed. His white tee tight on his chest and arms and his black Jean's making him look bad ass. "Well, Hello sexy" he says placing a kiss in my cheek and then my lips after his brown eyes meet mine.
"Where are we going?" I ask as he places another kiss on my cheek.
The sound of meowing fills the room. I look down at my feet that she is now lightly tapping on with her paw.
"When did you get that thing?" Michael asks pointing at peaches then running his fingers through his blonde hair. He's not very cat friendly unfortunately.
"When I woke up, she was sitting on the windowsill when I woke up." I say kneeling down to pick her up off the floor.
"She's clingy." He said with irritation in his voice.
"Seems like she wants to come with" I say looking up at Michael, giving him a puppy dog face. He smiles and takes my hand leading us out to the front door cradling peaches on our way out.
"She's fat" he said looking at peaches sitting on my lap in the car.
"If it pisses in my car. I'll personally kick her out" he said point in her face.
She meows and then replaces it with a hiss. We both start laughing at her attempt to scare Michael but he doesn't budge.
Instead he teases her all the way to The Valentinos restaurant.
I put peaches on the floor and off she runs into the alley. "I hope she comes back" I say looking at Michael.
"I don't" he said hopefully, leading me into the restaurant.
"Table for two" Michael says sternly to the waitress. Her long brown hair up in a ponytail swaying while she lead us to a table, her green eyes switching from me to Michael making my eyes switch from her to him.
"Thanks" he says to her winking and she walks off blushing. My heart pounding in my chest and tears threatening but I blink them away and clear my throat.
"Did you forget that I exist?" I ask glaring at him as I take a seat across from him.
"No, I just thanked her." He shrugged and flipped through the menu. I rolled my eyes and done the same thing. Feeling my heart slowly break, hearing my pounding heart only grow in my ears while I question about my relationship.
