Chapter Five.

1243 Words
I light a cigarette once I'm on the patio, sitting on one of the chairs as I watch the rain fall gently onto the grass, cuddling up the white fluffy blanket that used to be moms. Peaches comfortably lying on my lap purring Playing with her paw in my hand and holding a cigarette in my other. A matte red Audi A4 stops in front of my house. My cousin, Eddie, steps out of the passenger side his curly ginger hair, immediately getting wet from the rain, hugs his faces and his clothes start doing the same by hugging his body. He closes the car door and runs to the patio. His big green eyes staring at the cigarette and then looking at peaches "Hey cuzzie, still smoking I see. Where did you pick the cat up?" He asks pointing at peaches. She meows and lays her head down onto the blanket. "Hey, uhm yea still smoking. I'm honestly not sure where she came from but she doesn't like men" I say smiling at peaches, her purr getting louder. "Can my friend pull his car in?" He asks looking back at the car. I give a simple nod and a tight smile as I watch Eddie run back to the car. Not long after, the engine of the car starts up and the car slowly pulls into the driveway. Dean climbs out, his jacket covering his hair and face as he makes his way over to Eddie that is now walking up the stairs to the patio "Hot chocolate or coffee?" I ask looking at the two idiots sitting on the couches. "Hot chocolate, please." They both say at the same time. I look at them both and roll my eyes. "Come in" I say picking peaches up and walking straight to the kitchen. ***  They both take a seat. Dean looking around the kitchen running is fingers along the counter then to the chair as his eyes roam around the kitchen. "Nice." He says almost in whisper. I turn the kettle on and get the hot chocolates ready. "So... cuzzie. I've got an online gaming thing tonight. I was wondering if you would help me win because you're really good at kicking ass in games and in Reality, it's just for the money and the win obviously." Eddie says playing with his thumbs. Remembering how he would make bets with some guys that he could win a game easily "Only if I can bring peaches." I say looking over at Eddie. He smiled and gave a nod. "Great." He said simply. "Also, can you give me a ride to school tomorrow? I didn't have time to fetch my car." I say simply. "I'll take you. I'm in the same school and because I'm new maybe you can show me around" Dean suggests staring at me impatiently waiting for an answer. My phone starts buzzing on the counter top but I choose to ignore the call because it's Michael. I turn to finish the hot chocolate and hand both of them their warm drinks. The buzzing stops but then starts again seconds after buzzing, frustration and annoyance build up in my body. I answer the phone and immediately start yelling. "What?! Stop calling! I'll call you when I'm not pissed at you!" I notice Dean looking at me with a clenched jaw and Eddie looking bored. "I'm just calling to apologize, Clauds." "I don't care Michael. Just leave me alone. I'll call you when I get home later tonight" I say flatly. My tone raising a little but my blood boiling, as the thoughts come back "Where are you going?" He asks with curiosity in his voice. "Eddie's, I'll call later bye." I immediately hung up the call after. "Flirting with other girls again?" Eddie asks emotionlessly. I give a small nod and hear him sigh. "Why are you with him cuzzie? He always hurts you." Eddie says shaking his head in disbelief. I shrug my shoulders and start fidgeting with my fingers. I honestly don't know why I'm with him maybe I'm just too scared to be alone. All he does is hurt me and it wasn't like that in the begging of our relationship. When did things change? Why did things change? Tears pricking my eyes so I turn my focus on the counter top instead of meeting Eddies eyes  "You're not alone cuzzie. I'll always be here. Y'know that, right?" As if he was reading my thoughts, He looks at me with sympathy in his tight smile. I gave him a small nod and looked around for peaches that had disappeared. "f*****g wanker." Dean says under his breath, his jaw clenched and hands in a tight fist. I shook my head and looked around the kitchen. I don't know why he's worked up. He doesn't know Michael or me for that matter. I shake my thoughts away and focus on looking for peaches again. "Peaches?!" I call looking for any sign of her. Purring fills my ears and I watch her running into the kitchen. She picks up speed and runs up my body until she's holding onto my shoulders with her front paws so I cradle my arms so she can lay in them. "Pick me up tomorrow, I'll show you around school during free time." I say looking at Dean. His body visibly relaxes his eyes sharp with emerald glowing as he looks at me. "Okay, not awkward." Eddie says flatly. I look over at him and realize that dean and I have been staring at each other. I feel the colour rising to my face. I walk out the kitchen so that my red cheeks aren't visible but not long after both guys follow behind me. Trying desperately to get rid of the colour in my face "See you later cuzzie" Eddie says as they wave goodbye and head out to Deans car. I wave back and head upstairs to Kelsey. Mary is sitting on the edge of her bed reading. Peaches jumps out my hands and runs over to Kelsey that immediately cuddles peaches and starts to make exciting sounds as she runs her fingers through peaches fur. "That's peaches, she's part of the family now Kels" I say standing next to Mary. Mary leans toward peaches to stroke her too but peaches hisses at Mary and she almost jumps off the bed getting a fright. "I guess she doesn't like many people after all" I say to myself. Looking over at Mary that has horror written all over her face, I take Mary by her wrist and place her hand on peaches. The cat stays still and allows Mary to stroke her back she smiles up at me and then focuses on peaches once again. I leave Kelsey's room and make my way to my room. ***  Getting ready for tonight, I place my hair in a messy bun, slip on my grey sweats with a bright red long sleeve crop top and tie the laces of my black sneakers. Picking my phone up, I dial Eddie and wait for an answer but it goes straight to voicemail. "Peaches! I'm leaving!" I shout making my way to the front door waiting for peaches to join me. We both start walking to Eddie's house, which is only two blocks from my house, with peaches by my side as the rain drizzles over the both of us.
