Chapter 14Henry woke to the chatter of rain and the feeling of Theo Burnett tucked into his arms, up against him, and his heart opened so wide with joy he thought it might burst. Theo even slept neatly, a curlicue of fair skin and dark brown hair resting across a pillowcase and one hand nestled under his cheek. His eyelashes were long, and also dark, and they lay over his skin like a decoration; the curve of his hip was a treasure beneath sheets and blankets. His bare shoulder, a gift Henry was allowed to memorize, was the most graceful shoulder in the world. They’d slept naked. Henry had wondered, given the existence of nightshirts, but this appeared to be something Theo’s tidy mind did not fret over, at least not in this specific instance.
