Chapter 2 “His Little Problem?”

1057 Words
Isa Daley has been Chadwick's female friend since their high school days. From what Adira heard, Isa and Chadwick never dated. However, classmates from their year claimed that Chadwick had harbored feelings for Isa for quite some time. 'In short, he's a pathetic loser,' Adira concluded, nodding her head. With her arms crossed, she stood outside her husband's room, eavesdropping on Chadwick's conversation with his first love. ["My wife is pretty? W-Well. I admit that she is indeed pretty."] A satisfied smile spread across her luscious lips. She was well aware of that fact, but it still felt nice to hear it from someone else. ["But in my eyes, she's... you know, so-so,"] Chadwick added. At Chadwick's comment, the smile on her lips turned into a smirk. Adira glanced at the closed door and snorted. "Huh!" She admired her husband's audacity to escape during their honeymoon, suggesting they should sleep in separate rooms and stating that his wife was unattractive to another woman. Adira couldn't help but want to laugh and applaud in amusement. 'He's something else,' she thought to herself. Adira felt no jealousy whatsoever. She didn't mind if her husband was talking to another woman in the middle of the night. Still, she wanted to get back at him by calling him “so-so.” Without wasting a moment, Adira twisted the doorknob and flung the door open with a bang. BAM! The door swung open so forcefully that it slammed against the opposite wall. The abrupt entrance was a real wake-up call for her husband. Chadwick was so shocked that his mouth hung open as he stared at his wife, holding his phone, which he hadn’t had the chance to end. Adira walked up to him and greeted him loudly. "Good evening, my dear!" Chadwick remained speechless, frozen in place as he stared at his wife. He never expected Adira to come to his room, leaving him at a loss for words. "Why are you calling another woman in the middle of the night?" Adira questioned. "I waited so long for you to return. So, hang up, and let’s get started. Our sex." Chadwick’s eyes widened in shock! He turned as red as ketchup, embarrassed to realize that Isa was still on the line and had heard everything just now. With shaking hands, he ended the call. When he finally looked up at Adira, unable to close his mouth, he exclaimed, "You…You… ARE YOU CRAZY?! W-Why would you say that while I was still on the phone?" Feigning innocence, Adira shrugged her shoulders. She smiled at him, revealing deep dimples on her soft cheeks. Chadwick was taken aback by his wife's indifferent response. Adira Hale is the well-known and esteemed CEO of Crimson Meadow. She is skilled, professional, and diligent. Because of these qualities, Chadwick held her in high regard as his business partner, largely due to the positive rumors he had heard about her. However, his perspective began to shift. He felt he was starting to uncover her true nature, which had not been displayed publicly. He was astonished! "I don’t see anything wrong with asking my husband to sleep with me," Adira asserted, her hands clasped behind her back, giving her an air of politeness. With a shaky breath, Chadwick replied, "So, you’re saying you didn’t do anything wrong?" "Yes," Adira answered promptly. "But you did. You abandoned me in Japan, made decisions about the room layout in this house without me, and called me 'so-so'." Chadwick's brow furrowed at her last point. He could see why she was upset about being left in Japan and the choice to sleep in a separate room. However, he struggled to grasp why she was hurt by his comment about her looks. "No one has ever called me like that. So, I was taken aback," Adira clarified, even before Chadwick had the chance to ask. Chadwick let out a deep sigh. "I get that you're upset. But if you barged into my room like you did tonight, I'd be pretty upset too." "Then it's only fair. You called me unattractive, and I came into your room uninvited. It's even." Chadwick tilted his head, puzzled by her reasoning. Regardless, he was curious about her reason for visiting his room. "What brought you to my room?" he inquired. Adira smiled and replied, "I came here to have s*x with you." "..." After a few moments of silence, Chadwick asked again, "Excuse me?" "I said, I came here to have s*x with you," she reiterated with a grin. Blinking rapidly, he responded, "Are you... seriously?" In response, Adira nodded. "W-Wait a second," he interrupted, raising his hand as if to halt her further comments. "We got married for convenience, just so you know, right?" "I am. So?" "We got married unexpectedly without any proper dates or meetings." "I’m aware of that too." "If you know all this, then how can you ask me to have s*x with you?" "That’s a rhetorical question," Adira replied. "I am your wife, and you are my husband. It’s natural for a married couple to share a bed." Chadwick pressed his lips together in a straight line. It is indeed his duty to meet his wife’s s****l needs. However, he isn’t ready to give up his virginity to a woman he has just met. He thought their relationship was purely business, so he assumed they wouldn’t have much interaction. Moreover, Chadwick feels it’s wrong to engage in s*x with someone he doesn’t love. Still, he has no intention of falling in love with Adira in the future. For now, he is looking for excuses to avoid it. "I need to apologize," he said. "I can’t sleep with someone I don’t have romantic feelings for. Before we entered this relationship, I thought we both agreed that our marriage would be strictly business." Adira nodded as if she understood his point. "So, please return to your room," Chadwick suggested. However, the determined wife remained where she was. Noticing Adira’s questioning look, Chadwick asked, "W-What? Do you have something else to say?" "Well, I was considering another reason why you might be hesitant to sleep with me. And I came up with one thought." "What is it?" Adira glanced at his lower body, right at his center. Then she said, "Your thing is… small, isn’t it?"
