I walk straight into grandpa’s house. I’m not ready to face mom. I keep thinking about what Alex said. You should talk to your mom. Now I wish I’d asked how he even knows anything about my mom. As far as I know he’d only met her that one time when he dropped me off after the meet. And she’d spent the entire interaction glaring at him. To grandpa’s credit, he either doesn’t notice or doesn’t ask why I leave Alex’s car without my shirt and covered in blood. I go straight to the bathroom and get in the shower fully clothed. The water runs red with Alex’s blood streaming off of my skin and out of my hair. How could Alex say there wasn’t a cut on his head? Who’s blood am I covered in then, ALEX?
