Alex’s wolf form prances around on the rock before me. I laugh at him and say, “You’re so cute!” He beams under my compliments. “Can you do me one more favor?” he asks. “Only the one?” “Can you promise to carry my clothes back? These are my best shoes.” I laugh when I find his clothes folded neatly to the side. “I can do that.” I pick up the clothes and tuck them against my side. “Okay, ready to go?” Alex nods at me, and I gently scratch his fuzzy ears until he’s glaring at me. “What?” I say, laughing. “You don’t like scritchies?” “No, that's the problem!” he says, leaning his head into my palm. “I love scritchies but I’m hungry.” I laugh and say, “Okay, okay, let's go.” I climb onto his back. It feels more comfortable this time, but the strangeness of the situation is highlighted
