Alex and I walk on to the dance floor, and he holds out his hand to me. I take it awkwardly, and flinch when he puts his other hand on my waist. I realize I don’t think I’ve ever actually slow danced with someone before. Alex nudges my hand onto his shoulder, and I blush and look away. Alex must notice, because he leans towards me and whispers, “relax. This should be fun.” “I can’t!” I whisper with a nervous giggle. “What if I mess up, and ruin everything?” “Layla, who could you possibly ruin it for?” I look up at him. “You…?” “Layla, you couldn’t possibly ruin tonight for me.” As he says this, he looks down at me and pulls me closer until I feel his sharp hip bones against me.
