Late-morning. Bryant Park. A respite before the looming noon swarms. A couple of office laborers have effectively begun to stream in from adjacent structures, slipping away from their desk areas early. I watch them from my seat in the shadow of the New York Public Library, envious of their fellowship, their carefree lives. It's an unmistakable morning, albeit still on the crisp side. The leaves that shelter the walkways have turned a dusty gold. Encompassing the trees are patches of ivy previously bracing for winter.
