Crittenden Marriott (1867-1932) was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He began his writing career in Louisville, Kentucky, the home of his bride, Katherine Swope. Over his long career, he worked as a writer for the Associated Press and as a reporter and correspondent for numerous newspapers. He also wrote books, magazine serials, short stories, and motion picture scenarios—including scenarios for several Thanhouser releases. He wrote two films in 1915, three in 1916, and adapted The Isle of Dead Ships (as The Isle of Lost Ships) in 1923. (It was filmed a second time in 1929.)
