**CHAPTER 3** Sasha tossed and turned throughout the night, haunted by the weight of her actions—stealing someone's money felt like an unforgivable sin. The following day, Sasha embarked on a mission of redemption. She settled her mother's debts, paid household bills, indulged in self-care at the salon, and pampered herself with a makeover. "Mmm, money truly has its perks," Sasha mused, admiring her transformation after the salon session. With freshly trimmed hair and rejuvenated skin, Sasha ventured to the boutique, treating herself to her favorite clothes and accessories. Determined to provide for her family, she splurged on a meal at a five-star restaurant before tending to her mother's needs. After clearing hospital bills and purchasing medication, Sasha entered her mother's hospital room, greeted by Lisa's weakened but grateful smile. "Hey, Mom," Sasha said, pulling up a chair beside her mother's bed. "Hey, sweetheart," Lisa replied, her voice fragile with emotion. With plates of food in hand, Sasha reassured her mother, "Don't worry, Mom. Everything's taken care of—debts, bills, meds, and food." Lisa's eyes widened in disbelief, prompting her to question the source of Sasha's sudden wealth. "Sasha, where did you get all this money?" Lisa asked, concern evident in her tear-filled eyes. Sasha hesitated, then fabricated a story about her compassionate boss coming to her aid upon learning of Lisa's condition. Relieved, Lisa accepted the explanation, allowing Sasha to feed her with a mix of gratitude and relief. Meanwhile, Vincent, engrossed in his work, received distressing news from his subordinate, Caspian. "Boss, I just spoke to him. He'll be at the club by ten," Caspian relayed before departing. Vincent, sensing trouble, rallied his men, alerting them to the impending danger at the club. Later, Alessio stormed into Vincent's office, panic evident on his face as he brandished a laptop. "Vincent, we have a problem," Alessio announced urgently. Vincent, taken aback by Alessio's abrupt entrance, demanded to know the cause of his distress. "Someone has withdrawn a substantial amount of money from your account," Alessio revealed bluntly. Vincent's disbelief quickly turned to fury upon learning that two million dollars had been siphoned from his account. Determined to exact revenge, he ordered Alessio to track down the perpetrator at any cost. Meanwhile, Sasha, preparing for work, encountered her concerned colleagues, Lily and Fin. "Hey, Sasha, how are you holding up?" Fin inquired. "We were worried sick about you," Lily added. Sasha recounted her ordeal to her supportive friends, finding solace in their comforting words of her friends., ****** The club was thronged with revelers, dancing, smoking, drinking, and chatting. Sasha was frantic attending to customers, darting back to the bar where Fin and Lily were hustling to serve patrons. Sasha glanced at her wristwatch—it was just ten thirty. As she reached for a bottle of wine for a customer, gunfire erupted, sending people into a panic. The club descended into chaos, with screams and fleeing bodies. Sasha dropped the wine in shock, then bolted for cover, praying she wouldn't be hit. ******* Vincent arrived at the club with his bodyguards, ready for business. As he approached the VIP section, he was greeted by three men and an advance warning. "Let's get down to business, no time to waste," the man said, cigarette dangling from his fingers. Gunshots interrupted the meeting, and a smirk spread across Vincent's face. His plan had worked flawlessly—his men had initiated the chaos as planned. Vincent had long harbored a grudge against Kayze, his wealthy and deceitful business partner. With Kayze's illicit activities hidden beneath his façade of respectability, Vincent saw an opportunity to eliminate him discreetly. With a calculated move, Vincent shot Kayze twice, ending his reign. The aftermath left the club in disarray, with lifeless bodies strewn across the floor. Sasha found refuge in a hallway, her mind swirling with fear and uncertainty. Wondering about the fate of her friends, she contemplated her next move amidst the lingering gunfire. Suddenly, footsteps approached, and Vincent's voice echoed nearby. Sasha's heart raced as she realized the danger she was in—the killer was close. Vincent's presence triggered a memory for Sasha—Kayze, her stepfather's associate. With a gasp, she realized the peril she was in. Attempting to remain inconspicuous, she was caught off guard as Vincent cornered her. Playing a dangerous game, Vincent taunted Sasha, demanding to know what she overheard. In a moment of desperation, Sasha kicked Vincent and fled down the hallway, escaping into the night. --- "Sasha, are you alright?" Bella asked when she found Sasha sleeping on the kitchen floor. Sasha groggily sat up, her hair a tangled mess. She realized she was still wearing yesterday's shirt, and it dawned on her that it wasn't a dream. Ignoring Bella's concerned inquiry, Sasha reached for her phone in her purse. It was flooded with messages from Finn and Lily, all asking if she was okay and if she had made it home safely. With a forced smile, Sasha mumbled a greeting to Bella before rushing to her room and locking the door behind her. She had a sinking feeling; she was supposed to be at the hospital because her mother was getting discharged, yet here she was, in a serious state. Sasha's phone beeped with a message from an unknown number. "Nice to see you after a long time, baby girl, but there are things you're not supposed to know. You've tried your best to escape, but how long will you continue to run and hide?" The phone slipped from Sasha's trembling hand. She realized the person sending her gifts and letters was the man she had encountered yesterday—a killer. --- Lisa was back, and an idea formed in Sasha's mind. She had to protect herself and her family; it was clear the killer knew where they lived. Sasha went to her mother's room. "Hey, Mum, how are you feeling?" Sasha asked, trying to sound casual. "Good, dear," Lisa replied, her eyes widening at the sight of Sasha's packed bags. "Are you leaving?" Lisa's voice trembled with concern. "Yes, Mum, I got a job offer out of town. It's a great opportunity," Sasha lied, unable to burden her mother with the truth. "Don't worry, Mum, Bella and Matt will stay here to take care of you," Sasha reassured her, planting a kiss on her forehead. After saying goodbye, Sasha left, making sure she wasn't followed. She took a cab to Fiona's place, where she knew she'd find safety. Fiona was surprised to see Sasha after such a long silence. They hugged, and Sasha poured out her troubles, showing Fiona the evidence she had collected. "Fiona, I'm in trouble. I accidentally crossed paths with the killer yesterday," Sasha confessed. "What?" Fiona's eyes widened in shock. Sasha recounted her ordeal, including the chilling phone call about Kayze's murder. Fiona's expression darkened. "That guy you're talking about? He's Vincent Donnetro—a notorious mafia boss." Sasha's heart sank. What had she gotten herself into? Before she could panic further, Fiona laid out a plan. "Running won't solve anything. We need to strategize. But first, let's get you something to eat." Together, they hatched a plan to confront the danger head-on, knowing that hiding was no longer an option. ****** Vincent stirred from his slumber, recalling the blast of a party the night before. As he sauntered to the living room, he stumbled upon Miguel and Megan embroiled in a heated argument. Clearing his throat to intervene, Megan stormed out, leaving Miguel to explain his predicament. "Bro, Megan thinks I'm cheating because she found another girl's garment on my bed," Miguel confessed. Vincent, settling onto the couch, quipped, "This is why I keep my affairs discreet." Their conversation was interrupted by a servant bearing glasses of orange juice, a brief respite before Miguel dropped bombshell news. "We've identified the hacker," Miguel declared, drawing Vincent's attention. "Unfortunately, it turns out she's a girl," Miguel added, his tone laced with sympathy. Vincent's expression remained stoic as Alessio entered the room. "Hey guys," Alessio greeted, met with a handshake from Miguel and a cold dismissal from Vincent. "Who's she?" Vincent demanded, his tone tinged with anger. "That would be Sasha Hill," Alessio replied, oblivious to Vincent's underlying query. "Sasha Hill... Isn't she the one from the club who overheard our conversation about Kayze?" Vincent interrupted, realization dawning. Alessio nodded, and Miguel filled in the blanks about Sasha's familial connections to notorious figures in their world. Vincent's mind raced back to the club, recalling Sasha's fiery demeanor as she delivered a slap across his cheek. "Wait, isn't she the one who slapped me at the club?" Vincent interjected, his memory piecing together the puzzle. Alessio and Miguel exchanged surprised glances, confirming Vincent's recollection. Vincent, toying with his glass, instructed Alessio to delve deeper into Sasha's background. Meanwhile, Sasha resolved to stay away from the club and focused on preparing dinner while Fiona ran errands. Alessio returned with his findings, confirming Sasha's familial ties, sparking Vincent's interest. Determined to keep their secrets safe, Vincent devised a plan to handle Sasha discreetly, unfazed by her evasive tactics. Kendal's arrival prompted concerns about Vincent's intentions, stirring speculation among his associates. Vincent's recent preoccupation with Sasha raised eyebrows, prompting Alessio and Kendal to question his motives. As Vincent retreated into his thoughts, memories of their first encounter flashed through his mind, leaving his comrades puzzled about his newfound fixation. Exiting the room abruptly, Vincent left Alessio, Miguel, and Kendal to ponder his cryptic behavior, sparking humorous speculation about Sasha's unexpected impact on Vincent's demeanor. Could it be that Sasha's slap had an unintended effect on Vincent's stoic heart?.
