chapter 12: Linking the Unlinked

Marcy comes bounding up to us and gives me a hug and kiss on the cheek squeezing me tightly, with a smile smeared on her face.

"You made it with a minute to spare, sit near me so we can whisper in the back of the meeting room while the boys talk about patrols and silly posturing."

A few other people come up to Alex I don't recognize. They seemed friendly and I'm assuming the blonde haired man with Smokey blue eyes and dimples is his soon to be gamma.

My suspicions are confirmed When Alex thanks him for bringing him the clothes and picking up the flowers at last minute.

He introduces us, and the blonde haired man reaches for my extended hand and bows touching his forehead to it.

" My lovely Luna is it a pleasure to meet you finally. My future alpha has been a selfish man keeping you away. I now understand why he has been preoccupied. My name is Charles but everyone calls me CJ."

He kisses my hand and winks at Alex as we both see the dark eyes flicker at us both. CJ continues as he straightens up and turns to Marcy thanking her for helping in the flower selection and where to pick them up.

She blushes and waves him away giggling. This girl is a helpless flirt, and the mystery of how Alex knew about the bouquet choice is solved.

Luna Emily comes in and lights up when she sees us. She nearly knocked over a neighboring alpha and his Luna as she rushes over to hug and kiss me.

Luckily they are very polite and close friends to the pack. They get a good laugh at our adorable Luna. I got a good chuckle in myself.

Luna Emily is a Petite woman around 5'3 with pin straight blonde hair. Her hazel eyes that are always happy and warm when she looks at you. Making You feel seen and heard as she bubbles with love. She had become one of my closest friends over the years.

She carries her baby bump well but just like her last two pregnancies she is large. causing her to have the cutest waddle. She needs extra snacks and to sit down often this late in her pregnancy.

Alex and I thank her again for the picnic basket and she brushes my hair aside to see the fresh mark.

She hugs me hard before bursting into pregnancy tears. I comfort her and we walk into the meeting hall as Marcy goes and looks for a sweet treat for her.

She composes herself and I hush her softly as I fluff up the pillows around her on the couch in the hall. I'm guessing Jackson had It brought in so she could be more comfortable with longer meetings.

When the tears had been soothed. She starts to warn me about alpha Sullivan and his frustrating attitude.

I'm not thrilled this older Alpha is causing this much stress to her.

She briefly catches me up about how Jackson's grandfather who retired over 20 years ago and arrived around dawn. After all the men had been taken to Alpha Jackson's office. They spent hours trying to figure out what's really going on.

She said not to worry, but I know she is hiding something.

Marcy comes over with a big bowl of juicy red strawberries, on the tray she was holding she had a cup of hot coco for Emily, and two cups of coffee for her and I.

We all forget for a moment anything to do with Alpha nonsense. In the back of the meeting hall all three of us giggle as I tell them a shortened story of last night. They both shoved strawberries In their mouth listening with blushing ears.

Alpha Jackson came out of the office a bit more tired looking then usual, if that was even possible. His short blonde hair looked like had been fretting and running his hands throughout it all morning.

He looks right at us, well not us per say more like right at Luna Emily who is sitting there flushed from my story, nibbling on strawberries. I know little miss Luna is going to be in trouble later in all the good ways. I see both of their eyes go glazed and a smirk on their faces.

It was interrupted as alpha Sullivan and an older version of alpha Jackson come out obviously none to happy with each other.

Luna Emily pouts " I can't wait for the meeting to be over and everyone to go home. I'm not letting him leave the house till he makes up for all the neglect he has put me through."

I shove her lightly laughing at the pouting Luna. Neglectful is not at all the word I would have used for alpha Jackson to this woman. That man eats out of her hand and is a loving father and husband and one of the strongest kindest leaders I know.

Everyone starts to file into the Room and I see Alex enter with his gamma and a few younger alphas all have stacks of paperwork in their hands and they look serious.

The meeting was full of maps, schedules and new territory lines being drawn up. Alpha Jackson and eight current alphas including their betas and the six future ones. Stood up front pointing and gesturing giving their thoughts and opinions as we shared information around the area that had old maps along with new ones.

The charts are on the walls with red dots from the last 10 years of attacks and where the over lap was. The missing girls are in blue. I know this has been an issue and there are a lot of hurting families that want answers.

Towards the end of the meeting we had more questions than answers. Jackson said that he was waiting on the king to get back with him with more maps. And he turned to ask Alex if he had heard anything yet, he shook his head no. Jackson shrugged and went back to the meeting at hand.

I found that odd, but I knew I'd ask him to explain when we where alone again. I wiggle in my seat thinking about being alone with him with out a deadline or meeting to get in the way. I see his body stiffen up and a voice in my head.

" little star, I feel what you're thinking and that's not nice."

I start replaying the tub incident over in my head.

"I'm bored, and I need you" I linked back.

I feel his wolf start pacing and I stop when Luna Emily nudges me. A knowing smile on her face. Alpha Jackson and Alex look like tense statues and about to throw everyone out of the room.

She warms me that Alex and I are freshly mated. What I'm doing is dangerous, that even after 6 years being with Jackson he barely can control the wolf when things get this way. Her pregnancy hormones are an amplifier.

I look towards Alex and I see his leg is bouncing up and down in agitation, arms crossed, eyes forward.

An older alpha is telling a myth about a part of the woods where a star crashed landed and created a lake. He swears the lake isn't on any map and Is hidden. he was pointing to some land where his grandfather told him it was at. Some of the younger alphas scoffed at the story.

Alex looks moody and deadly in this moment and I feel bad for teasing him.

Luna Emily is staring at Alpha Jackson and I see his hands grib the podium and those blue eyes on fire.

He clears his throat and says "um, yes let's continue the story tomorrow after we all get some rest. We've been in here for 6 hours. and I think we all could use a shower, food and some fresh air. Dinner is being served in the hall. We meet back here at 9 am on the dot"

I hear the buzz of people talking about their ideas and theories and the scraping of chairs as people stand and stretch their limbs and start heading to the mess hall to grab dinner that's waiting for us.

Marcy hugs us both. " I'm going to see if these handsome men have single handsome brothers I can meet. "

We wish her the best in her adventure and tell her I'll call her later for a quick run later. She gives me a quick kiss on my cheek before she twirls around and goes to flirt her beautiful heart out.

Alpha Jackson walks over to his Luna not paying attention to anyone or anything, and takes her hand gently pulling her to her feet. They walk away heading towards their quarters.

Instinctively I link Blake letting him know they will need a dinner tray made up and sent to their room, and to Add a few extra tarts to the tray.

He links back surprised to hear from me. I realized that I was linking pack members that I couldn't before.

I decided to shelf that confusing find till later. I turned my attention to the green eyed man staring me down from across the room. I see he is being yelled at by his grandfather and his brother next to him. both shaking their heads glaring quietly. With former Alpha Joe, Jacksons grandfather in the middle shaking his hands at Alpha Sullivan.

I don't feel like it's a wise idea to go over. I'll let them sort that out. I wanted to learn more about the story the older alpha was saying in the meeting. Since I'd never heard of it before and I had the keys to the library.

I decided to Link Marcy, "Hey, wanna raid the kitchen for some wine and head back to the library for a bit?"

I hear a scream in the other room and I walk out closing the doors to see her running around the corner like she had seen a ghost. she and I meet each other's eyes and she links back" when where you going to tell me you could do this!"

I laugh and walk over grabbing her hand. " I just found out I could so, wine or flirting?"

She thinks a while, looking at the room of loud laughing men and giggling woman, then back at me. She rolls her eyes and throws her hands up and howls.

"I'm so thirsty."

We start towards the kitchen, ignoring the heated voices in the meeting hall.

I link Alex to let him know where I'll be and I hope he doesn't have to spend all night there. I feel his anger and frustration in what I can only imagine is a uncomfortable situation.

he links back.

" I'm going to send CJ with you to keep an eye out on me. I'll meet you at you're place once I'm done with this inconvenience. "

" That's not necessary, it's just the library Alex I've been there a hundred times."

"This isn't a debate Jade, I'll link him to meet you in the kitchen before you leave, "

He sounded tense, but there was something in his voice that I didn't argue with.

I tell him don't bother linking CJ, I would.

There was a brief pause and a questioning tone replied," What do you mean link CJ? We haven't had the ceremony for you to be able to do that yet."

"Well looks like you need to hurry up. It sounds like we have things to talk about"

I feel the feeling of longing.

" I can promise you that when I see you next. Talking is the last thing on my mind but what is happening is interesting enough for us to briefly talk, and mean briefly."

I linked CJ "Meet us in the kitchen in a few moments."

He links back " I didn't know you had been authorized to use this channel, I'll be there as fast as I can!"

I turn to Marcy, " let's try to beat CJ to the kitchens."
