Alex pov ******3 years later,********* The blaring sound of my alarm rebounded throughout my room. I jerked up in confusion before It took me a moment to realise that it was not the fire alarm, but rather my alarm standing proudly on my bed stand. I grudgingly switched off the annoying piece of device, wondering how I forgot to deactivate it before going to sleep. Today is Saturday, which means no school for me. “Ahhh,” a loud yelp came out from my mouth, followed by thuding sound. My stuff lying all around had tripped me. Perfect “Is everything alright? Alex, our maid Debby, poked her head into my bedroom. “Yeah, all’s good” I gave her a thumbs up, “Your breakfast is ready downstairs,” she added before slipping out like she never came in. I sighed, finally getting free from my clothes that tangled with my legs. That's a great way to start a great weekend. “Honey how are you doing today?” The sound of my mum's voice greeted me. I was surprised she was at home. Normally, by the time I woke up, she was gone to God knows where. “Good,” I said, going straight to the dining table. “Are you happy honey, you are about to enter college on, I am so proud that my baby is growing” I almost choked on my cereals, “mum I am not a baby anymore, I will turn eighteen in a month time,” I reminded her “You are still my big baby” she said, posing like she was fighting an invisible battle. “Why didn't you go to work, mum?” I asked her, trying to divert the subject, “Today is the weekend baby, besides mum wants to be there for you, on your first day in college” she said happily, and I didn’t want to spoil her happy mood for her. “Mum, I will be back soon!!” I shouted to her, going out of the door, to where I work. A small eatery called the Chicken Republic. “Hey you f*g,” my nosy stupid neighbor kids yelled at me. I rolled my eyes, giving them a middle finger, “f**k your selves!” i shouted back at them. Attracting the attention of an old lady with a cat, Miss Moores, one of my neighbours too. She looked at me like I was the devil sent to take her life. “f**k you too” I muttered under my breath. I sighed to myself, a lot of things have changed in the last few years. Except for a few people who are still living in the past. Like I have finished my high school, and gotten admission to study In college near my neighbourhood, that counts as a change, Plus, I now wear baggy jeans, and I had my navel pricked. Well, that was orchestrated by my devil incarnate, Linda. That also counts as a change. Then the Miss Moores and my stupid neighbours haven't changed for a bit, still living backward, Speaking of things that never change, The sharp annoying ringing of the eatery door bell, telling everyone that you just entered the shop. yep, it has never changed for once. “Walking down the streets of Okigwe, single and lonely like a barren desert, am yet to see any change from you Alexander ” Linda's voice welcomed my arrival in the eater. “Get a brea, old lady, I prefer to go slow and steady” I retorted back, smiling at her. “You are looking devilish today, linda, any good gist” I joked, referring to her cropped top and jeans with Barby flowers all over, “And you are looking rather hot today. Hmmm, if I don't know you, I will hit on you myself” she said back, causing me to roll my eyes at her pathetic comeback. “you know, I didn't know you, i would have believed what you said for a moment” I retorted back, my vouce laced with sarcasm. “Am serious, you are looking yummy, tell me why again you don't yet have a boyfriend” she said with seriousness. “Ohh, thanks for that” I said, surprised at her seriousness. “Are you kidding me?” she asked wide-eyed, raising her hands in akimbo. Linda went to the same high school as I, and when applying for college, we applied at the same college. She has been my friend for three years now, and one of those people who don't follow them to laugh or insult me. “Hello, can I get a cup of coffee please” a voice intruded rudley into our conversation. “Hello can't you see I am in the middle of…” my voice trailed off, looking at the Greek God standing in front of me. He was literally covered with tattoos and his muscles, I could see them screaming under his tight fit shirt to be let out. I blushed profusely for no reason. “Ahhm,” Linda cleared her throat, we will attend to you, please don't be angry, she gave her best smile, dismissing the hot guy. The guy grunted inaudibly. Before walking down to have his seat, I used the plinter of time to check him out, and damn his backside was even more glorious. Linda whistled, catching back my attention, “hey lover boy, let me pretend I didn't see you eyes strip our customer bare, his table is on you, get to work” “Huh?, noo i…” but she was already attending another table, leaving me the one the hot guy was sitting on. I sighed in defeat. Today will be a very long day for me. ************ “I can't believe you did that” I started, “Did what,” Linda asked me, feigning ignorance. “You sent me to the lion's pack, I thought you were my best friend,” I pouted at her. We were on our way home after closing for today, around evening. Linda lives the street after mine, explaining us walking together. “I practically helped your life,” she said “am yet to collect my thank you” “Last I checked, I was not complaining” I fired back at her. “When was the last time you got laid, or you laid…” “Linda!!!…” I shouted her name in horror. “What, it's not like you don't know what I am saying, it's been three years Alex, three f**king years Alex!, haven't you gotten over the mystery boy with the green eyes and handsome face.” “You are saying it like it didn’t happen” I said, not liking how she sounded. “Fine, let's say it did happen, but what do you know, you are here keeping your virginity for a mystery boy that is in one part of the world, leaving his life and fooling around with pretty girls, ooh and probably getting himself disvirgined…” “Okay, I am done listening to you, see you tomorrow” I hurriedly said to Linda, rushing off to my house. “You are welcome!!” she shouted back at me, I was getting uncomfortable hearing Linda talk about Jacob like he is a pervert or he is a bad guy. For three years, I have missed him and have been checking out those with green eyes and jet black curled hair, but unfortunately, I haven't seen him till now. Those three months in camp were the best months of my life. My house was ahead of me. When I saw it, my heartbeat increased immediately, followed by my pulse rate, I rushed over to the car packed at the road, “Hey Jacob, is that really you,I have been looking for you for ages!!” I shouted my heart pounding heavily in my chest, but Jacob turned with a confused face, and alas, it wasn't him. “I…I am so sorry” I tried to apologise to the guy who was wondering if I had gone crazy. I had mistaken a stranger for Jacob. my cheeks burned red, I was going crazy, and I am definitely getting crazy. Seeing Jacob, who was not Jacob, I could have sworn the guy was Jacob for a minute. I shook my head, and I couldn't help the feeling of disappointment. maybe Linda was right, “I need to get laid or lay someone”
