I see the fear on her face, the confusion from my statement marring it. Did she think I came to kill her? I would kill anyone who tried to kill her. I don’t understand why I feel so protective of my little vixen, but I have come to terms with the fact that I am. She must understand that, too.
“I am not here to kill you, Ava.”
“You’re not?” she says in a whisper.
I hate that she would think I would, but at the same time, we also don’t know each other very well. Well, she doesn’t know me very well.
“No, little vixen,” I say with a smirk. “Why would I make you my lawyer just to end up killing you? That’s just not good for business.”
Her expression softens, but there is still confusion on her face.
“Why did you have someone following me?” she says with slight irritation in her tone.
“For protection.”
“Who are you trying to protect me from?”
“No one at the moment, as no one knows who you are, but they will once I introduce you as my new lawyer.”
“Introduce me?”
“Yeah,” I smirk. “To my inner circle.”
Her eyes hit her forehead, and she gasps. “You want to introduce me? Is that really necessary for a lawyer?”
Yes, I think, because you are f*****g mine, Ava Greenwich, and they need to know that.
“No, but they should know who you are in case I’m unable to get in touch with you.”
“Okay, so when will I meet them?”
I smirk before saying, “Now.”

The driver pulls up to my house, and I can see the wonder on Ava’s face. Her eyes are practically sparkling, and her mouth so wide she could be a fly catcher. She is so beautiful, my c**k starts to thicken. I open the door to the cold air and walk around to open her door. Thankfully, the cold air has helped my ‘situation’. She still looks starstruck as I help her out of the car and up the steps. Once we’re through the door, I pull her towards the meeting room, where my seven closest men are and sit her beside me at the head of the table. My men look at her. Some with confusion, some with curiosity, and a couple with interest they shouldn’t have for her.
“Men, this is my new lawyer, Ava Greenwich,” I surmise. “She is Ignacio’s daughter.”
My second-in-command, Jared, already knows about Ava after the incident at my bar. I had to tell him when he got a call from someone at the bar that someone had kidnapped a customer straight from the bar. He laughed so hard I thought he would bust a gut when I told him it was me.
“So, little lady? You free tonight?” One of my men, Kirk, says to Ava, like she’s a piece of meat. I slam my fist on the table so hard that everyone jumps back and Ava shrieks. I focus my gaze on his, anger radiating off me like electricity.
“She is mine,” I growl loudly. “Touch her and you will die.”
Kirk lowers his head and apologises to Ava. She nods, accepting his apology. She’s definitely more forgiving than I am. I feel like I’m about ready to kill him until I look at her. My feisty little vixen is looking at me like she wants to kill me, and I’m here for it, but I need to finish this meeting.
“That goes for any of you,” I growl. They all nod their heads in agreement with me. “Now, you may f**k off and do your jobs.”
They all let out a ‘tsh’ as they start getting up and leaving the room, leaving only me and Ava in the room. She is still looking at me as though she’d love to kill me, and I can’t help but grab her, set her on the table, and kiss the life out of her. I can feel her tense and pull back from me, so I pull back and look at her. She looks even angrier now.
“I’m yours, Enzo?” She shouts. “Are you kidding me? Where was my offer for this that I would surely disagree with?”
“And that’s exactly why I didn’t ask you, my little vixen,” I say, a little louder than I intended. “You are mine whether you like it or not, Ava, so you may get used to it.”
A storm is now raging in her eyes, and she looks like her eyes are going to bulge out of her head.
“This is why I’ve been avoiding you like the plague,” she seethes. “You are too demanding and controlling, and I don’t stand by that.”
She storms out the door and down my drive. I don’t know what to say to that. I’ve always been the one in control. The boss. Even before my dad died, being the boss’s son gave me a lot of power. Most women I’ve been with have loved it, but Ava is different. She wants to be heard. Listened to even. She’s different from all those other girls who just wanted me for my power and money. This electricity between us is so strong that when she enters a room, I can feel her. I see her in my dreams. I see her in my daydreams. I just can’t get this woman out of my head. I need to make her realise that she is the only woman I want, but that scares me too because I’m also starting to realise that I don’t just want this woman. I need her, and I will do everything in my power to show her what she means to me. Even if that means giving her space, and talking to her before making decisions, making sure that she has everything she wants of her own volition. All of which is going to be a struggle for me, but if Ava wants that, then I will try for her. Those two weeks without her, and only hearing about her from my i***t henchman, was an absolute nightmare. I will not go that long without her again, even if it means I need her services as a lawyer to spend that time with her.
