Proposal

I clutched on my shorts while standing in front of their family house. It only took us 30mins drive to be here. I wanted to grab Damon's hand asked him to go back to Manhattan. I feel anxious and I think my heart is gonna explode any moment now. My heartbeat won't stop ever since he told me where the hell we are going.

“Hey, no one's gonna eat you alive.” He smirked.

Am I doing this?

Are we gonna do this thing? Coz right now I am already hyperventilating.

“I think you need to do a press release and cover-up what you just said a while ago. No need for this marriage thingy,” I muttered unconsciously.

But he only hears nothing and dragged me inside the mansion. Their servants welcome us when we enter the porch. They all smile as if they welcomed me wholeheartedly. Regardless of this warm welcome, I'm not at ease walking inside this house as if I was already a member of the family.

I was taken aback by seeing his whole family gathered in the receiving area. Are they waiting for us? This f*****g brute he wanted me to embarrassed in front of his family. I was pulling out my hand from his but he only tightens the grip on my hands. He pulled me towards him and put his hands on my shoulder showing them how close and sweet we are like what he planned.

I cringe at the smiles they gave me.

“We’re home.” He announces.

I wanted to run towards the door and deny all of Damon’s statements. I wanted to slap myself too maybe this was just a f*****g nightmare that the man beside me made. God, I hate to say this but I hate gatherings and introductions.

“Good evening.” I greeted them.

“I hope you welcomed my fiancée and I know you knew her already. I hope you could protect and treat her as a family.”

Damon stated as everybody approached and show their greetings.

I scowled when Lujan approached me with a grinned on the lips. “So you’re gonna be my sister-in-law? How odd I thought I could have you for myself.” He teases me.

“Lujan we haven’t married yet, but I can punch you in the face,” Damon whispered and pulled Lujan away from me.

All the nervousness and doubt I have before I set my foot here are all gone. They welcomed me with open arms.

“I’m just welcoming my future sister-in-law. So when is the wedding?” I coughed when Lujan asked that question. I’ve been praying since a while ago hoping that no one would ask us that, but he did!

No one dares to ask. But this conceited guy beside me who kept on grinning like an innocent man was making the whole situation more awkward for me.

“Yeah, you haven’t told us anything over the phone son. Jade, have you talked about the date?” Madam Sofia asked me.

I look at Damon who’s looking at me too. I was just like what the hell! How would I know, it’s your son who asked me to marry him? I don't even have a f*****g idea what this asshole has been thinking. He always decides whatever comes to his mind and that what's bothering me. I'm afraid that after this he has a new planned again I'll take my life if that happens.

“I-I…?A-actually—”

“Mum, we haven’t talked about the details yet. It would be great if you could help her.” He said as he put his arms on my shoulder, his being touchy today. I even saw their eyes followed Damon's actions that are making me crazy coz I can't remove his hands from me because they are f*****g watching me.

Madam Sofia clapped her hands happily as she announces how gladly she wanted to help as she leads the way to the dining area. She was so happy that she even wanted to start planning our wedding it's a good thing Lujan stops her from doing that. I haven't even recovered from the wedding announcement yet, now he wanted to marry us instantly. I look back at Damon but he's not there anymore. I hate him for letting me deal with his family alone.

I feel like they're going to eat me alive if I make mistakes.

“I haven’t expected this to happen, Jade. You didn’t give us any clue the last time you visit us. You both surprise the hell out of me.” She giggled.

I'm also clueless about your son's planned. I'm not aware that we’re a couple and I need to marry him. Coz all I f*****g know we’re his invading my privacy and personal life right now. I haven’t even accomplished my dreams to travel the world. Now, I'm announcing my marriage to the people I never expected that I'll be a part of their family.

The whole time with his family, we’re like an interview. And he doesn’t help or even showed his ass over dinner.

“Where’s your brother?” I whispered to Lujan when he sits beside me.

He shrugged.

I yawned for the third time now. I’m still here stuck with Madam Sofia, who was so busy planning for the said wedding. I don’t know what’s the use that I’m here when she’s still pushing what she thinks right. I think she's planning her wedding, not mine. Anyways, it's a good thing that she's here because I don't have any sight ideas about weddings as I said a while ago this is not in my planned.

“You can leave if you want to, I’ll just tell Mum that you tired.”

I agreed to Lujan and sneaked out before don’t back. A personal maid’s waiting for me at the corner and accompany me to my room.

She’s assigned to help me with my need while I’m here, that’s what she said. But I don’t intend to stay here for long periods. I’m just here coz Damon drag me here.

I was surprised when I saw the room I’ll be sleeping in. Their house we’re Mediterranean style inside. The bed in front of me looked like the one I saw in a movie. It was a big round bed with red bedding and the headboard designs were gold banisters. It makes the bed look elegant and simple at the same time.

I found a couple of dresses in the closet. Why do rich people prefer to wear dresses? I take out satin sleepwear and left it on the bed before I went to the bathroom. I took my time bathing when someone bangs the door so loud. I almost fell on the floor when I hastily run out.

“W-what happen?” I asked confused about the urgency.

I saw Damon standing in front of the door mad and scowling at me.

“What the f**k are you doing? I've been knocking for ages here, Hiyasmin Jade. In case you haven’t heard of the knocked.” He hissed frustratedly.

“I’m sorry. I was in the shower when you knock. Is there a problem?”

I looked at him dumbfounded when he gave me a folder. I wanted to ask but he already left without giving me a chance to talk.

I just tilted my head while watching his back lost in the dark. I will never understand this man. He always does what comes to his mind. I check the folder he gave me and it has all my documents and a note from him. It says I need to sign the contract inside coz the wedding will happen tomorrow.

What the heck! He never consults me on anything, he just decides on his own.

I get dressed and followed him outside. I found him at the pool with Lujan, who’s wearing a big smirked as he sees me. I wanted to confront him about the papers but when he turned around my thoughts flew away from the window.

“Are you done checking me out?” with a smug stake on his face.

I looked away. “I-I'm not checking you out.”

He chuckled and passed me by. I thought he left but he just takes off his top and jumped on the pool. God, what a beautiful view?

And it all sinks on me, if tomorrow was get married, I'm gonna be his wife.

“Is that for real?” I shouted.

“The what?”

“The one written on your note. That we’re getting married tomorrow.”

He shrugged. “Yeah, for formality sake, coz press might pluck on my house when we're back. Besides, it’s just a ceremony, but you can still plan the wedding with Mum if you want.” He said like it’s nothing before he dives for another round.

Does he think it’s just a game?

I have my own life too. I have a family to consult with.

“What about me? You haven’t consulted me on anything you just decide on your own. If it’s about what happened to us? Then forget it, we’re too old for this shit.” I object. But he looks furious and acts like he doesn’t hear anything. “Why do you always ignore me?” I blocked his way when he's about to surpass me.

“I’m not ignoring you, I just don’t want to hear anything you want to say.”

“It is just the same.”

“No, it’s not the same. I don’t want to listen to you coz you'll just reason out again about the wedding. And you can’t say no to this I already announce this f*****g wedding. All you have to do is wear that ring marry me and be my wife.”

I thought his already done talking. But he stops and said the word that made my heart ached for a moment.

“If you’re worried about the money, don’t worry I’ll still compensate you for this job. And be ready for tomorrow, after the wedding was heading back to Manhattan.”

I was left dumbfounded by his words.

So this was a job on his part?

And you expect something, Hiyasmin Jade? I clutch my chest coz I feel like I’m out of breathing. This is part of my job and it’ll gonna be included in my bio. Now I get it.

I'm gonna marry him to stop Martina from harassing him.

He's using me.
