Mira's POV — Three Days Before the Hearing
The clinic waiting room was empty.
Mira stared at the appointment schedule on her computer. Yesterday, she'd had twelve patients booked. This morning, nine cancellations came through. All pack members. All with the same vague excuse: "scheduling conflict."
Her assistant, Jenny, knocked softly. "Dr. Whitmore? Mrs. Patterson just called. She's cancelling Lily's follow-up appointment."
"Let me guess. Scheduling conflict?"
"She said..." Jenny hesitated. "She said her husband doesn't want their daughter treated by someone who's 'betraying pack values.'"
Mira closed her eyes. "Thank you, Jenny."
