**Valeblack's POV — Three Days Later**
High Councilor Thane called at seven AM.
"Victoria Sunshade withdrew her opposition."
Valeblack sat up in bed. "What?"
"Her own conflict of interest was exposed. Turns out she's been dating Alpha Damian from Silverpeak. Someone leaked it to the Council ethics committee. She withdrew her motion last night rather than face investigation herself."
"Who leaked it?"
"Does it matter? Your reinstatement is secure. The vote will pass unanimously now. You'll be back on the Council in four months." Thane paused. "You're lucky, Valeblack. This could have gone very differently."
After hanging up, Valeblack sat in the dark bedroom, relief washing over him.
His career was safe. The Council seat secured. Victoria's opposition collapsed.
