“I’d like that, Robert,” She replied. “I’ve had so few friends that I could trust in the past few years. It would be nice if I could count on you as a friend.” He looked away from her. Amelia thought he reminded her of a child caught misbehaving. Robert looked back into her eyes and smiled. She felt her knees go weak. “Good, now go to work and stay out of my sherry,” he said as she pulled her arm away. Robert held her hand and she smiled again at him. He stared into her eyes and Amelia’s heart fluttered as he kissed the top of her hand lightly and he released it. Amelia lowered her eyes and turned to leave as a hint of a blush crept across her cheeks. Amelia left the little courtyard and ducked around a corner to catch her breath. Her heart was beating rapidly, and her head was swimming.
