Amelia stared at Pearl with her jaw hanging open. Pearl looked satisfied with herself. “What the hell just happened?” Both ladies turned around to see Robert standing behind them in the doorway leading to the dining room. He was angry; his voice boomed in the kitchen. Amelia jumped. It was the same tone she had heard yesterday in her uncle’s office. “Lee found your thief. He ran away.” Pearl said, finally letting go of Amelia’s hand. Amelia smiled and laughed nervously. She rubbed her wrist where Pearl had squeezed her, wiggling her fingers to get the feeling back. “You were supposed to bring me everything you found,” Robert boomed. “She showed them to me and I took care of the problem,” Pearl said flatly. Amelia stared at Pearl, no fear creased the other woman’s brow as Robert yelled
