(Yoru POV)
I stared down at Rain. I couldn’t believe he had come all the way out here to this open space where there was a large field of lilies. He had come way out and I could see Rōzu’s white and black fur among all the red flowers. I look down at my hands that where resting on Rain’s back and slowly move them back and forth through his fur. We had been sitting like this for awhile with Rōzu running and playing around us when I decided to ask Rain a question that had been on my mind since last night. Well really every night since Sabastion told me about the werewolf who was more wolf then human.
“Rain,” I said softly. “I don’t want to push you and you don’t have to tell me until you are ready to but... why are you always in your wolf form?” I ask him. I feel him stiffen up under my hand but relax again as I continue to pet him. “Bad things happen when I am human.” He says softly through the mate mind link. We would have had it anyways but it seemed Rain was able to open the connection up further then what it would be when mates first meet. I humm in understanding. “I know bad things have happened to you before Rain, but I promise you are safe here. I also know i might be asking you for a lot but do you think you could change to your human for me?” I ask him.
He sat up and turned his muzzle towards my face as if he was looking at me but beyond just my face. It was like he was looking into my soul. “I’m am sorry Yoru but No. I cannot and will not change back until my wolf and I are completely safe.” He say, adding an explanation so that I would understand why. I gently grab his face in between my hands and place a small kiss on his furry face. “I understand Rain and it’s ok. When you are ready I will be here to help you change back.” His wolf purred happily. My wolf had told me that his wolf was still weak from all the torture he and Rain had been through. So it was nice to hear his wolf even a little.
I stand up and stretch, the reason for my little crying session forgotten with Rain here. “Let’s get back to the house.” I say to him as I feel the pass’s anxiety growing about something. He nods and barks at Rōzu who comes running up to him and, I as I watched the two, grew into a more serious looking animal as she walked at Rain’s side. Guiding him when he needing it. As we make our way to the pack house Sabastion mind links me. “Yoru, we can’t find him anywhere!” He say sounding panicked. “Find who?” I asked back confused. “Rain!” He all but yells. “One of the maids let him out of the room by mistake and then he just took off and now we can find him anywhere!” He finished.
I smile to myself as we reach the house and I see him at the back door looking to the inside. “Why don’t you turn around.” I tell him smartly. I can’t help but laugh loudly when I see the look of shock and relief that was on his face when he saw Rain close behind me. “I thought he had run away.” Sabastion said breathlessly as he ran up to me. Sabastion looked at the ash gray wolf behind me, sadness replacing his other emotions. “He didn’t change back?” He questions quietly. I place a hand on his shoulder. “He will change back when he is ready to.” I tell him. “He might not be changing yet but just give him time.”
