  Elizabeth's POV   The roads were nearly empty. Only the occasional car passed by, its headlights cutting through the mist, momentarily lighting up the path ahead. I kept my gaze forward, trying not to think too much about how quiet everything was. The stillness made me uneasy. My feet shuffled along the pavement, the only sound being the faint scuff of my shoes.   My thoughts wandered to Dad.
