  Leo sat in the sterile hospital room, the rhythmic beeping of machines the only sound breaking the thick silence. His father lay motionless in the hospital bed, tubes and wires attached to him, keeping him alive. The sight of his once-strong father reduced to this frail state had never failed to send a wave of sadness and anger coursing through Leo. He clenched his fists, his gaze locked on the still figure that had once been the pillar of their family.
