Chapter 3: The Interface Unveiled

Han Yu stared at the newly created control panel floating before him. Its design was intuitive, with various sections labeled for managing different aspects of the city. At the top of the interface was a yin-yang symbol, split into two halves. The golden half represented Wish Power, while the black half was labeled Reality Value. Beneath the yin-yang, two smaller boxes displayed the city's Population and Satisfaction Rate. Han Yu glanced at the Population box, which read: 100,000. “Wait, I have 100,000 people already?!” Han Yu was startled. Then, he recalled the golden silhouettes that had emerged earlier. They weren’t just projections—they had solidified into real, albeit simulated, people. "Alright, so they count as residents. But why is their satisfaction rate zero?" Han Yu frowned and focused on the Satisfaction Rate box. When he clicked on it, a new section opened, displaying various complaints from the residents. Each line appeared as a floating speech bubble: “Why does this bread taste like air? It’s completely flavorless!” “My clothes feel strangely weightless. Is this really fabric?” “This money seems fake... I can’t shake the feeling it’s worthless.” “Why don’t we have any parks nearby?” “Why does my house feel... off?” Han Yu rubbed his temples, overwhelmed by the bizarre and specific grievances. “Okay, so the problem is that the entire city is fake, and even the simulated citizens can tell. Wonderful.” Despite his frustration, Han Yu realized that addressing these issues could yield significant benefits. Increasing the Satisfaction Rate wouldn’t just make the residents happier—it would also raise the city’s Reality Value, reducing its reliance on Wish Power. “Fine, let’s start fixing things. First off, Wish Power, I need a system to manage and improve the city. Give me a central control panel for city management,” he said decisively. As soon as he spoke, the sun in the sky flickered again, and a new screen appeared on the interface. This was the City Management Panel, a comprehensive tool for overseeing the city’s infrastructure, services, and population needs. It included sections for departments like the City Hall, Transport Bureau, Education Department, Public Utilities, Safety Division, and Finance Office. Han Yu quickly scanned the sections. Each department had unique responsibilities: The Transport Bureau managed roads, train systems, and airports. The Education Department oversaw schools and learning institutions. Public Utilities handled basic services like electricity, water, and parks. The Safety Division included police, firefighters, and hospitals. The Finance Office tracked the city’s revenue and expenses. “That’s... surprisingly detailed,” Han Yu muttered, impressed. As he explored the panel, he noticed several functions were grayed out. Clicking on them revealed additional costs in Wish Power to activate. “Of course. Nothing comes for free,” he sighed. After familiarizing himself with the City Management Panel, Han Yu turned his attention back to the citizens’ complaints. “Let’s tackle the food issue first,” he decided. “If they’re complaining about bread, it must be because the city’s food supply is fake. Wish Power, show me a way to import real food from the outside world.” The sun emitted another pulse of light, and a new option appeared in the interface: World Gate Imports. This feature allowed Han Yu to open a portal to the outside world, bringing in real materials and goods. The interface displayed a list of required resources, including wheat, meat, and vegetables. Han Yu clicked on the activation button, but a notification popped up: Cost to open the World Gate: 84,600 Wish Power “What?! That’s more than I expected!” Han Yu exclaimed. The portal cost was exorbitant, and it didn’t guarantee a reliable outcome. Since the World Gate’s destination was random, he had no way of knowing whether he’d end up in a resource-rich world or a barren wasteland. Additionally, the portal required 60,000 Wish Power to create a cloaking device. Without it, the world’s natural laws—or “Heavenly Dao”—would detect him, potentially leading to his ejection or worse. “Guess I don’t have a choice. Let’s do this,” Han Yu muttered. He activated the World Gate and watched as a swirling vortex formed before him. Han Yu emerged into a bustling city street, his surroundings remarkably similar to his original world. English signs hung from buildings, and people hurried along the sidewalks, seemingly oblivious to his presence. “Looks normal enough. But where am I?” Han Yu wondered, scanning the area. His eyes landed on a sign that read Uncle’s Antique Store, and his heart skipped a beat. “This can’t be... Jackie Chan Adventures?!” As realization dawned, a mix of excitement and apprehension surged through him. If this was the world of Jackie Chan Adventures, it meant magic and danger were lurking around every corner. “This might be more interesting than I thought,” Han Yu said, a sly grin spreading across his face.
