I pulled the rein, bringing my horse to a halt at the exact spot where the guards gathered.
“They found something of hers.” Astrid had revealed before leading me to the guards who found traces of Namiko in the woods.
I hopped off my horse and passed the reins to the guard near me. “What did you find?” I asked, stepping forward.
“We found her scent on this piece of clothing.” A guard stepped forward, placing the piece in my hand.
I brought it to my nose and inhaled her scent like my life depended on it. It was her, it was the same, tangerines, with something warm and wild.
“Have you tried picking up her scent anywhere further?”
“Yes, Alpha, unfortunately, we found nothing. The wind must have washed off every other trace of her scent. But we don't plan to stop searching.
