Eros woke up with his arms wrapped around Julie. He thankfully hadn't thought much of Hattie since then. He just couldn't help but be worried about when he was going to run into her. She lived right across the hall. Something although with Julie and his relationship had to change. He felt it as soon as he thought about Hattie instead of seeing Julie.
Eros got out of bed to check their box downstairs. Luckily, it was way too early for any of his neighbors to be awake. He quietly got dressed and headed to the mailbox. It was right downstairs next to the front door.
As he came down the stairs he saw Hattie though. His cheeks went red after the thought of her from last night, while he was with Julie.
Hattie, although she had thought of him, hadn't really put much thought into it, because she really didn't want to. She wanted to prepare herself for school that was in a couple of days now. She had other plans. She had also been making preparations for the family business. She had finally gotten the go ahead from her dad even though she hadn't started college yet.
She was to grow the business but run it in New York. Apparently, that was one of the reasons her parents pressured her more. She had found that out not long ago. Although she might fight for more of the business in the future. She had plans to try to buy out the building next door. She liked this area very much. She had thought about having the place next door an apartment building as well and adding a small area to open up for a restaurant to rent out.
She had full on thoughts about the business. It kept her from thinking about the guy and the sounds she could hear last night in her room. Her face turned tomato red as she turned and saw Eros right behind her. Hattie was putting the envelopes for the dinner invitations for the tenants within the building.
"Thought it was even more illegal to go through people's mailboxes?" Eros said, but in the back of his mind he hated himself for even speaking out loud to her.
"Why do you keep coming at the worst times?" Hattie huffed as she put the last letter in the mailbox..
"Worst or best timing?"
"Hmph" She said, turning around and leaving him. She hated that guy with a burning passion right now, although it didn't sit very right with her at the moment, it felt perfect.
Hattie rushed back up to her room. She had finally turned it into something she could stay in. She kept the walls the same color and the furniture. She just added some more things to it. She had pretty curtains that had lights on them and a white furry run that tied the walls and her bed together. She was quite proud of herself.
Her great-great grandmother's things were still in the closet. Most of them still stood where they were, she just made room for her own stuff.
Hattie shook her head as her thoughts went to Eros instead of what she was working on. She opened her laptop as she started preparing for both the dinner that was to be held tomorrow but also for school that was supposed to start within a few days. Hattie really didn't believe she was in the right mind to have any type of relationship, especially with someone who had a girlfriend.
Eros, on the other hand, had a letter. The letter specifically that Hattie had put in his mailbox. He had that letter specially on top of the stack as he went up the stairs into his room. Julie was still fast asleep. She mostly worked at night, while Eros worked during the weekends while he still attended college at NYU.
The letter specifically had his room number, not his name, so it held concern for him. Who was Hattie anyway? He never actually thought about it until now who she was...
Who was Hattie and why was she able to stay in that room? He lived with a complete stranger...
Eros opened the letter.
Dear Tentans,
This evening I am hoping that each of you will be able to make it to a special dinner. I have thought of preparing to introduce myself to you all this evening. Come as you are and please make yourself comfortable. I wish to meet the people I live with.
Sincerally
Hattie Johnson
