Chapter 9

1469 Words
We made it through the pack boundary and parked in front of the pack house. My nerves were shot to hell and seeing my dad and Mason outside waiting for us didn't help at all. Liam could probably feel how anxious I was and held my hand to comfort me as we walked up to them. Mason already looked pissed but after seeing Liam hold my hand, he looked ready to kill him. My dad just arched an eyebrow, looking at us curiously.  "Hannah, why are you with him?!" Mason asked through gritted teeth. Before I could speak, my dad did. "Mason, let's have this conversation in my office. Come, Hannah, Alpha." We all followed him inside and to his office. Liam and I each took a seat in front of my dad's desk. Mason stood off to the side, watching Liam. "Alpha Liam, it's nice to finally meet you. What brings you to my pack?" My dad said, taking a seat behind his desk.  "Alpha Jackson, same to you," Liam addressed my dad. "As I said to Mason on the phone, I might be able to help with your rogue problem." Liam looked confident and business like, a true alpha. If I wasn't on the edge of having a panic attack, I'd take the moment to appreciate how sexy he looked. "Yes, you did say that. However, I believe you and my daughter were already on your way here to discuss something else." My eyes grew wide. My dad knew. Dammit, somehow he knew.  "Your daughter is my mate. We came to ask for your blessing. And yours as well, Mason," Liam said, taking a look at my brother. "Oh, hell no. I will not give it! Hannah, you knew this whole time and you didn't tell me." I could hear the hurt behind Mason's anger and it broke me. We always told each other everything. As twins, we were always incredibly close and we made promises as kids that we would never keep secrets.  "Mason, I'm so-" "Save it," he cut me off. "I don't want to hear it." The betrayal in his eyes brought tears to mine. I should have told him that day. I should've been stronger.  "Hannah," my dad finally spoke, "do you want to be Liam's Luna?" I tried to regain my composure before answering my dad. I'll have to talk to Mason later and fix things. "I'm not sure yet, but I promised I'd give Liam a chance." My dad gave me a knowing look. "Alpha, you have my blessing. I trust you'll take care of my daughter. Is this why you offered to help with the rogues?" Liam's lips turned up into a smile. "Partially, yes. I feel that it would be smart to offer an alliance with you. For Hannah's sake and for my pack's.  Our territories are fairly close and I've been dealing with rogue problems recently as well. Strategically, it would be a good move for us to team up." "It would be beneficial for my pack, I admit. We are smaller than Blood moon and could use the extra protection." "Dad, you can't possibly be considering this," says Mason, moving to my dad's side. "I'm not considering it, I'm agreeing to it." "Alpha Jackson, Hannah will be staying the night at my pack house. We have a mating ceremony tomorrow to attend to for my beta and Hannah's friend. After the ceremony, I'll come back with her to finalize the alliance details. Is there anything you need from me before then?" I was slightly shocked at Liam's matter of fact statement but truth was I was anxious to get out of this office. "No, we took care of tonight's threats and even managed to capture one of the rogues for interrogation. I'll hold off on questioning him until you return tomorrow, Alpha Liam" "Thank you. I appreciate that, and please call me Liam. If you'll excuse me, I better help Hannah pack for the night." "Of course. Goodnight, Liam." Liam and I stood. I gave my dad a tight hug before we left his office, avoiding Mason's gaze. He had been quiet at the end but I could still feel his anger and hurt rolling off of him in waves. Liam and I walked up the stairs to my room in silence. After reaching our destination, Liam shut the door behind us and walked up to me. "Are you ok?" he asked, cupping the side of my face. I couldn't keep my composure anymore and let the tears fall as a sob escaped my throat. "Mason hates me," I cried. "He's my brother and he hates me." "Shhh. He doesn't hate you. He's hurt and upset maybe, but he'll get over it. You're his sister, he'll forgive you." Liam pulls me into a tight hug. I don't deserve this. I don't deserve love and loyalty when I've continued to act like a selfish pup, especially from a mate that I haven't been fair to. Liam leaned down to kiss me and I felt my body heat up. "Liam," I sigh, "I need to pack." "Ok, baby, but I'm here for you." I look into his eyes and I can see his sincerity in the green depths. I move to grab some toiletries and stuff for tomorrow and put them into a small duffle. I let Liam know I'm ready and he grabs my hand and leads outside and to his car.  ................................... Once at his pack house, I get out of the car, carrying my duffle, and look up at a massive stone mansion. It's obviously bigger than ours but I'm unfazed. I've been in and around pack houses all my life so this one wasn't overly special but it was beautiful all the same. It was late but there were still a few pack members out and about. The ones we passed looked at me curiously. There were 6 levels to the house, I assume Liam's room was on the top level. The inside of the house was dark wood floors and mahogany colored walls. Liam led me up the stairs, all the way to the top level. I guess I assumed right. He kept going, heading towards a door at the very end of the hall. I stopped before we reached it. "Hold on, I'm not sleeping in your room." "Don't worry, baby. I'll sleep on the couch in there. There's just no way I can sleep under the same roof and not have you close. My wolf would go crazy. "Fine but we're not hooking up." Liam smiles, almost smirking. "I'll wait for you to be ready, Hannah, I promise, but I don't think l'll be waiting long." Cocky Liam will be the death of me, I swear. He opens the door, revealing his Alpha suite. A sitting area in front of a gorgeous stone fireplace and a king size bed and french doors leading to a balcony. I look at a couple doors that are on one wall, probably a huge bathroom and a walk in closet. "The bathroom is the door on the right, our closet is on the left," said Liam, reading my mind. "Our closet?" I asked with a raised eyebrow. "Yes, ours. You are my mate and I would love it if you had stuff here, even if you're not ready to fully move in yet." He walked up and put his arms around my waist, looking at me with that smile of his that melts my heart every time I see it.  "I'm going to change." I say stepping out of his reach and heading to the bathroom. I shut the door behind me and let out a breath. What am I doing here? I don't know if I have enough strength to last the night. I'm falling harder for Liam, the longer I'm with him. Today has been a roller coaster and I should be exhausted. I'm still wide awake though. I splash some water on my face, trying to get some clarity. It doesn't work, I'm still more confused than ever. After changing into my favorite comfy shorts and a t-shirt, I leave the bathroom and find Liam has already changed into a pair of basketball shorts and is completely shirtless. He's so perfectly sculpted and I can't look away. My eyes roam over every inch of muscle and I completely lose myself. "Baby, you test my self control, looking at me like that and wearing those shorts," Liam says with his signature smirk. Ugh, I can die now. I go over to the bed and crawl underneath the covers, getting comfortable. This bed is heaven. Liam comes over and gives me a kiss on the forehead. "Goodnight, Hannah." He then gets some blankets and a couple pillows, making a bed for himself on the couch.  "Goodnight Liam." It takes me some time to fall asleep, my mind racing with everything that happened today. Liam showed me different sides to him that I wasn't prepared for. What do I do now?
