“While the war decimated an unfortunate portion of the world’s population, the most horrific tragedy came in the environmental consequences.” Mrs. Hale paced in front of the full-wall screen. “In spending all their power plotting destruction, the greatest governments in the world ignored the growing danger our planet faced while wasting irreplaceable resources on a cycle of violence that only furthered the problems of poverty and want that created the conflict in the first place.”
I gripped the edge of my desk, trying to burn my restless energy out through my hands when what I really wanted to do was sprint circles around the room.
