"Mama!! Mama!!” Seraphina jerk open her eyes and quickly sat up.. panting heavily. Her head ached and her hands moved to her forehead wiping off beads of sweat. She reached out for the glass of water and pills on the nightstand. She stared at it and sighed deeply before gulping it down. She inhaled deeply, her hand massaging her forehead. It's been 12 years since that night. 12 years since she's been having these nightmares. It traumatized her. "I love you, my firefly." A drop of tears escaped her eyes. She wiped it off harshly. Her hands curled into a fist. She got up from the bed and sided the curtains. As soon as she did, the strong sun rays fell on her face giving her warmth after that terrorizing dream. For some reason, since a week now, she hasn't felt complete. She couldn't describe why she felt this way. It felt as if she lost a part of her or a memory and it's not because of the nightmares, something else. What happened last week especially that night? The only thing she could recall was killing the demons after that she went back to The Order underground hideout, right? But something was missing. Seraphina shrugged. Her phone rang and the call dial read 'Amara'. A smiled forms on her face. Amara is Seraphina's bestfriend. They been together through thick and thin. "Hey, Seraph," Her voice was light which made Seraphina smile more. "I warned you not to call me that name, Mara." "Yeah, same. What the heck is " Mara"? Why can't you call me Any like everyone else?" "You know I'm not everyone else." Seraphina giggled. She imagined her bestfriend rolling her eyes, sitting on her couch with a slice of toasted bread and hot coffee in hand. "We are needed at the base. " Seraphina's facial expression turned serious. She sat up straighter, her hands curling into a fist again. Her face contorted. The first thought that slammed into her mind was— demons. They were multiplying, scattering across the city in ways The Order hadn't predicted. Maybe another place the nestted have been discovered. She was about to say something when Amara interrupted. "And before you think it's the demons, no, it's not." Seraphina exhaled. "It's something about the Supernaturals —another specie — the lycanthropes." Seraphina froze. The word alone seemed to echo inside her head like a struck bell. Lycanthropes. The tug in her chest twisted sharply, leaving her breath caught in her throat. Why did it feel like her body knew something her mind didn't? Her pulse speedy picked up while her stomach cooked with unease. She had fought demons, witches and even vampires before. But never a lycan or werewolf. Not directly. They weren't usually The Order's concern. They were too organized, too contained within their packs to cause chaos in the human world. Again, Seraphina shrugged off that uneasy feeling. "Lycans? What about them?" "I reay don't know, Seraph. " Amara sighed, "it's kind of strange. We've never been pulled into lycan affairs. We just have to go to the base and find out." "Okay, I will meet you there. " Seraphina took her bath and wrapped a towel around her torso and one to her wet hair. After changing into her comforts, she ate a croissant with a glass of milk. She glanced at her beside clock which says it's nine o'clock. Hence, she reached the place where she and Amara meets before going to the base. Seraphina scanned the area and see Amara sitting on her favourite spot, legs crossed, sipping her favourite strawberry juice. Seraphina walked towards her. As she moves, the males look at her with awe, lust and need, and the females did nothing to hide their jealous expressions. She is not in her usual clothes. Her disguise. No one knows who it is behind those old-fashioned grandma clothes and thick brown framed glasses. Her eyesight was perfect that she doesn't need glasses to see. She has curves to die for and her hair— long, curly and black. She has to hide her eye colour behind lenses as it brings in a lot of questions and so many admirers . She needs all these disguises to blend in with commoners. No one can know who she is. No one can know she's the Shadow Siren. She took her time to walk towards Amara. "Girl, you're hot as hell. Damn!!" Amara compliments, she turned to look over at the girls behind. "I swear, if they could sell their soul to the devil just for him to give them eyes that can shoot daggers and kill you right now — they will. " Seraphina giggled and shrugged off the compliment. "Duhhh!! Can we go now?" "Yeah, yeah. " Amara sighed, packing her stuffs while standing. "The Shadow Siren always straight to the point. " We casually walk towards Amara's low-key car and leave the park. The main base area is an isolated place where you will have to pass through a series of security measures. As Amara drove, Seraphina looked out of the window and starts to think about her past. How those damn demons killed her mother right in front of her eyes. How her whole world burned down just in a day. From an innocent, sweet and gentle girl who had believed in the fairy tales her mother told her— to a ruthless and fearless killer of demons and every other living thing that tried to shake the peaceful balance of the world. She smiled as she realized how naïve she was when she was a child. In no time, they reached the base while she was still thinking about her past memories. Amara parked her car in a spot designated for her only. They pass through the series of security measures and enter the main hall, where meetings were held especially before work is given inorder to make proper plans. As soon as they entered, they met Mr Cartwright, the second-in-command of the organization. The main boss, Dante was out on a very important business. He didn't tell them what it was all about. Just said it was of utmost importance and must be kept confidential to himself until he returns. Even Mr Cartwright didn't know where he went or what he was going there to do. Dante is like a father figure to Seraphina. He found her wandering around in the ruins of their burnt house with a tear-streaked face. He trained her so she could have the opportunity to avenge her parents death and Seraphina was ready to do it till the death. After some time after her parents died, Seraphina came to know that Mr Cartwright also worked in this same organization. His wife, Mrs Cartwright took Seraphina in after that tragic night. They were Seraphina's neighbours. Her train of thoughts cut off when the door opened and Kieran, Amara and six other people walked in. "Shall we begin?" Kieran said, his eyes on Seraphina the whole time.
