CHAPTER 10

Henry walked in the company and as usually immediately everyone saw him they stopped walking, gisting, working and all paused to bow as he walked side by side with His driver, Mr paul.

Being in a bad mood from his earlier discussion with his grandfather and mother, He ignored everyone including his favorite security guard who he always smiled at before entering the company.

The old security guard told his partner who asked why he didn't answer him “ He is in a bad mood, everyone needs to be wary of him today”.

Immediately he entered the executive floor he headed towards Liara’s office, Karena stood immediately to bow her upper body not facing up, expecting him to open the door.

As he was about to open the door, He changed his mind. He didn't want to act in an uncultured manner, in as much as he was curious to see his adopted cousin, he had to be official too. He cleared his throat, making Karena stand straight and he Left for his office opposite Liara's office.

Immediately his personal assistant noticed him, He ran behind him “Good morning sir” Karen feigned a smile on his face but scoffed inwardly at his boss who he believed was too rude for his likings. He and Karena are twins but Karen joined the organization first and Karena later through his help, both are diligent in their works.

“My schedule” Henry's Baritone voice sent chills down Karen's spine.

“ Here sir” Handing over his file to him.

“What a lined up day” he said as he glanced through his schedule and entered his office.

His office is more spacious,classy and a bit masculine, giving a complete CEO’s office vibe.

Karen walked in behind him and Henry scoffed when he turned to look at the clumsy young man behind him. “Anything else you have to say?”

“ Your meeting with director Liara is in 5 mins time at the conference room”

“Tch, director already? What is that old man up to?” He mumbled

“What?”

“Nevermind, you can go, I'll join them soon” He sat, rolling his seat in a clockwise and anticlockwise manner almost the same time, suddenly he stopped and gazed on the beautiful view of the city and reminisced on what his grandfather has said earlier “ohh man, must I get married?, why do women get in my way Everytime”

Betty rammed across the office, trying to arrange her boss's space before he entered. She can't lie she had sleepless nights having erotic thoughts of her boss, she has been crushing on him for as long as she had been his secretary. But Ken wouldn't even notice her, she thought.

But she never expected him to, she was only a low class Lady trying to make ends meet.

Sighting her boss entering the hall, she gasped and arranged faster “damn!! Liara finally succeeded in implicating me” Regardless of how frustrated she was, she couldn't help but admire ken’s physique, looking hot as his built body figure made his suits fitted.

“Good morning Mr Ken, I'm so sorry I came a little bit late… I just”

“It's fine Betty” He interrupted her with a smile and Betty was surprised, it was his first time calling her name, He had always referred to her as hey there! Or secretary. But he had just called her name.

She thought he didn't even know her name…butterflies filled her belly and her cheeks turned red.

“ I'll take care of my office myself,and I also got my coffee on the way” showing her the cup in his hands and smiled again.

Suddenly realizing his actions might mean he was slowly losing interest in her work as she is not used to him being this attentive and nice, she tried to defend herself “ I'm sorry sir, do i do anything wrong?”

“No Betty you didn't, Just relax and prepare we have a meeting in 5 minutes time with Mr Henry and our new director”

“ Director? Could that be Liara?” She thought and giggled silently in Happiness

“Ok sir” she said and left the space.

Ken heaved a deep sigh, he had always tried to hide his attraction to Betty, Right from the first day he met her and she was introduced as his secretary his heart had melted for her.

He was keenly against office romance as he was constantly reminded of the trauma he went through after his father left him and his mom for his secretary.

He had always been very official to all his previous secretaries till he met Betty and he lost it but he was still keen on maintaining a formal relationship regardless of his feelings.

“ He called my name, He knows my name” Betty grinned from ears to ears.

“ Damn, I have to prepare for the meeting… and wait….is Liara really the new director Mr ken was talking about” she kept on questioning herself, suddenly her intercom rang.

“ Are you ready?”

“Yes… yes sir”

“Alright,will join you outside now” she hung but immediately saw Ken walk out of her office, her heart skipped “what a perfect body” she thought and gupped nothing down her throat.

“Shall we?” His baritone voice and smile electrocuting her, walking abruptly behind him and admiring his physique secretly behind him and Ken could not help but smile, he is fully aware that Betty likes him.

Betty's heart leaped for joy immediately she saw Liara in the conference room, her suspicion was right, she was the new director, she grinned happily behind Ken and wink at her.

“Welcome to Maxell Mrs Liara Garson” Ken stretched his hands to give Liara a handshake and Liara grabbed it quickly.

“You are Mr?”

“Ken… Just Ken, the director of the marketing and broadcasting team”

“Ohhh, nice meeting you sir” Liara smiled then face Betty and winked at her, giggling silently and Ken noticed them.

“You know Betty somewhere?”

“ Yes Mr ken, Betty is my best friend”

“Ohhh interesting Betty is my..” Ken was interrupted by the door opening and an elegant figure entered and Liara shifted her gaze from Ken to see who entered.

She started the stare from his brown Italian made shoes to his neatly ironed trouser and his expensive looking wristwatch, “ such a tall figure, he must be Henry” she thought and stood up to look at his face.

Suddenly she lost her voice and could only open her lips apart while she looked at the cold looking man staring at her like he was about to devour her.

She regain her voice and all she could say was “You? I mean… what are….. you doing here?
