Chapter 5

Hei couldn't believe his misfortune. His mate, the person he was waiting his entire life for was in front of him, yet she turned out to be the woman he needed to stop, on top of that she was a witch. There was never a case where a wolf and a witch mated with one another, it was against the law. It was abnormal. He didn't know what to do and what to think. Hei was about to go crazy from all this thinking. For Chang'e sake. He needed to compose himself after, this torturous day will be over he will pray to goodness, he needed an advice only she can give.

Josephine had a gut feeling that the strange boy wasn't the person he claimed to be. Since that one time their eyes met, Ling didn't want to look at her and when she explained the rules of school and showed him around, it was as if he doesn't listen to her and fights something inside him. She couldn't lie however, that the boy had her interest. Ling was a handsome young man, tall, black hair and equally dark eyes. He looked like someone hiding something and Josephine loved riddles. That who Ling was for her a riddle she was desperate to solve.

The school day was finally over and Josephine could finally rest. Her ginger curls were spread on the comfortable pillow, while she read her father's diary. Page after page, the book became more dark and mysterious.

August 1999

Josephine is still tormented with nightmares. I feel bad that I can't help her with them. Recently she moved her favorite toy from one place to another using only her mind. She will be a powerful when she grows up. I am so proud of her.

September 1999

Someone saw a black wolf in a forest, not far away from the manor. It's impossible for them to find out that Josephine was born.

October 1999

Anastasia is worried for me. I spent more time researching origins of my family. Recently one coven of witches from Sweden was brutally murdered by vampires, yet no one knows which vampire clan did it. I need to think of possibility of my family going into hiding.

November 1999

I told Anastasia about my plan for her and Josie if, something would happen to me. She wasn't happy.

December 1999

Josephine is not bothered by nightmares anymore but I am afraid that those dreams are more than than.

There was a time skip of few months after that. What she read next surprised her greatly.

June 2000

The dragon clan joined hands with vampires. The dark times are coming. I need to think of my family first.

July 2000

Josephine and Anastasia are in a safe place that I can only visit. Each time I spent with them I cherish.

Something inside Josephine turned and she decided to turn to the last page of the diary. The last page of the book was covered with something dark. Josephine touched the stain and then the vision came.

She was standing on a field. There were at least dozens of people standing in a circle. People of different backgrounds. Josephine felt afraid of them.

''Bring him in!'' said one man. Three other men, brought someone when Josephine looked at his swollen face, she recognized him instantly.

''Dad?'' she said on the verge of crying. The beaten man looked up, just like he could hear her.

''Well well well Edward, my friend I can't recognize you.''

Said the same man, when Josephine took a better look at him, she saw that it was her step-father Lucca. Her blood boiled. How could he?!

''I am not your friend.'' her father said.

Lucca smiled ''Is a matter of life and death and you are choosing to still being an asshole. Do you really want to die?'' he asked.

''I don't care if I live or die. I never did.''

Lucca laughed ''What will your wife say? Or your daughter?''

''I don't have a child.''

Josephine felt sad that her father didn't admitted to having her but there was defiantly something behind it.

''Then all those rumors were untrue?! Rumors don't start with nothing.''

''Well you have wrong information. I don't have a child. Maybe you should update your spies?''

Lucca looked pissed. With one blow he slapped her father across his face. Josephine screamed at this. Once again she could feel her father's eyes on her. Edward looked as if he could see her standing there, looking at him, scared for him.

Then Edward started talking. People around him thought he was speaking to himself.

''The person who will revenge me, sees this. The person who will revenge me knows you all. She will one day become the destruction of all kinds. Her name will be bring you chaos and her gifts will be the greatest threat to the world.''

Lucca laughed ''You are going mad, just like your mother and father did. I wonder what will dragon clan say when they finish you.''

Then the vision ended. The last thing she could see were her father's eyes, looking straight at her, fire within them.

.Josephine woke up. She was taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself, after she succeeded, she grabbed her phone and dialed the number from the piece of paper she got from Anna.

Anna was sleeping peacefully, dreaming of endless happiness with her and her's wife. Suddenly, Anna's sleep was disturbed by ringing phone. The older woman gowned. Who the hell dared to disturb her slumber?! She asked herself. Angrily she picked up her phone from the bedside table. 

''Yes?'' she asked sleepily.

''I am so sorry I woke you up Anna. It's me Josephine.''

Anna was so shocked that she woke up. All traces of sleep leaving her.

''Yes Josephine did something happened?'' Anna asked, worry evident in her voice.

''I had a strange vision. I need to see you or talk to you, whatever it takes, I need to know how my father died.''

Anna was shocked at what was leaving Josie's mouth.

''If you find out how he died what are you planning to do?'' she asked curious.

''I want you to teach me how to control my powers and how to become powerful. I know who took him and I have an idea who is behind is death. It was my step-father Lucca. This asshole.''

Anna was so shocked she couldn't form a single word.

''H-how do you know it was him?''

''I had a vision. I touched the stain in my father's diary, I think it was blood a-and I saw Lucca hitting him. I am so sad and angry I needed to call you. I feel like you are the only person I can trust.''

''Of course you can trust me. I would never betray your father.''

''Good when can we meet?''

''What time do you finish school tomorrow?''

''At two.''

''Good meet me tomorrow in a cafe in Moonbey. The one on the Church Avenue. I will be waiting there for you at three.''

''Thank you see you tomorrow.''

Said Josephine and disconnected the call. Anna sat down on the bed and thought to herself. 'Her powers are already showing. She's more powerful than Edward knew.'

Hei heard every single word in that conversation. It pained him and his wolf that they couldn't comfort her. He knew he had to make sure that Josephine never finds out who really killed her father. If she does, she will hate him and as much as he would like her to do just that, he won't be able to live that way. However, he knew one thing. Hei can't no longer work for Lucca and his father. The blood bond was tight but mate bond was eternal. He needed to protect his mate.
