Alora's POV
We sat in the campus police office awaiting to hear our fate. Draven had his arms crossed and looked angry. I began to play with my hair to calm my nerves. I used to bite my nails, but Mother told me it was not lady like to mutilate my beautiful nails like that. A police officer walked over to us, "So you're not a student here?" Draven scoffed, "No, like I would ever be a student in this hell hole. I have better things to do with my life than sit in a classroom." The cop pursued his lips and turned to me, "Is he your boyfriend?"
"Oh no he is um just a friend." "Well you are a student here and I could place you on probation for this. You broke into private property after hours. I am going to have to call your parents and let them know what happened." Suddenly in what seemed like the blink of an eye Draven was in the cop's face. "You will do nothing of the sort. You are going to let us go and pretend like this never happened. We simply were out past her curfew. You will let us off with a warning."
The policeman blinked and looked at me, "I'm going to let you off with a warning. Don't let this happen again." Draven nodded and shook the policeman's hand. "Thank you for being so understanding. Have a great night." He grabbed my hand and pulled me behind him out of the door.
I let go of his hand and stood back, "What was that? How did you do that Draven?" He sighed, "I just reasoned with him Alora, nothing more." "I don't believe that. Your eyes looked different, like you were someone else." He pulled me close to him and looked deep into my eyes, "Alora you will forget we got in trouble and were arrested. You will only remember that we had fun swimming. It was a lovely night and we had fun."
I blinked looking around, "Draven? What are you doing?" "Kissing you." He pulled me into him and kissed me hard. I felt tingles all over my body and heat as he placed his hands on my neck and face. Suddenly the ground shook, hard. Sirens began to blare all across the campus. The ground began to split around us and I grabbed onto Draven. I watched as the sidewalk split and students began to run out of their dorms.
"Draven, what's happening?!" "Earthquakes, we have to get somewhere safer." He pulled me into a nearby building. Things were falling from the higher floors of the building. Buildings were crumbling around us. The shaking stopped and I took deep breaths. "Alora, it's not over." The ground shook again and I watched out of the glass door as buildings broke in half. Students were running around screaming as they tried to get to safety. Draven waved his hand over me, "Go to sleep." And all I saw was darkness.
I woke up in a large room filled with dark walls. I instantly felt a strong dark presence in this room. I remembered I fell asleep on the car ride to my dorm room. I stood up and walked to open the door to see where I was. The hall was long and dark with a dark red rug going down to the large staircase. This home felt beautifully broken. I descended the stairs to see men sitting at the table with drinks and the TV on in front of them. The news channel was talking about the earthquakes and how much damage had been done.
I walked in the room quietly, but the men seemed to sense my presence. "Alora, you're awake." Draven was changed into navy sweatpants and a white v-neck t-shirt with no shoes on. He looked beautiful and broken all at the same time. "Draven, what happened? How did I get here?" "When you fell asleep after the earthquakes started I drove straight here. This is my home it is right outside the city. I knew I could keep you safe here."
I swooned inside that he wanted to protect me, little did he know I wasn't a girl that needed protection. I had the protection of the holiest of holy. I looked over at the men sitting near him and recognized Tyler as he smiled at me. "Alora, these are my roommates. You already know Tyler, this is Kyle, Drake, Lennox, and Geoffrey. Guys this is Alora." They all said hello and I studied them. They were all very handsome and masculine looking. They all had muscles you could see through their shirts. Each of them had gorgeous dark eyes and perfect hair. In all my time studying earth and the human race, I had never seen men in one place that looked so perfect. It suddenly made sense to me why we were taught to not be vain and focused on beauty. Beauty was tempting, and temptation was sin and these men could cause a lot of girls to sin.
I felt my phone ringing in my pocket and excused myself. "Hello?" "Alora! It's Alice. I woke up when the earthquakes happened and you weren't there? Where did you go? Are you okay?" "I'm fine Alice, I was with Draven and I am at his house now. I'm safe." She paused, "You snuck out with lover boy? I want all the details tomorrow." I sighed as she hung up and turned back to Draven who was standing right in front of me now. My breath hitched noticing his closeness. "We should go back to bed. It's the middle of the night. I'll take you home in the morning." He sounded so authoritative I couldn't tell him no. I worried because I had never laid in bed with a man. I guess it was okay if I didn't touch him. Sleeping in the same bed couldn't hurt anything right?
He scooped me into his arms and looked into my eyes. I felt and aching in my core from how he looked at me. He carried me up the stairs and laid me in his bed. I watched as he pulled the blanket up over me and tucked it around me. I had seen my father do this to my mother and it melted my heart. He climbed in behind me and kissed my hair as he wrapped his arm around me from behind. I didn't know what this was or if it was okay, but I knew one thing, I loved it.
