An hour later, someone knocked on the door, and Adam’s pulse quickened. When Mitch opened it, Adam saw Jeff, Mitch’s assistant manager, standing there, a grim expression on his face. Mitch stepped into the hallway to talk to the man. Nothing could have stopped Adam from listening in. “Has there been any word?” Jeff asked. Mitch huffed a long sigh. “Not yet.” “Damn.
