Chapter 3: Family Tension

As rehearsals for the play continued, Harper found herself struggling to balance her family obligations with her newfound love for Mason. Her father still strongly disapproved of their relationship, and her mother's overbearing nature only made things worse.

Despite the challenges, Harper and Mason were determined to make their relationship work. They stole moments together whenever they could, sneaking off to empty rooms in the theatre in between rehearsals.

It was in one of these rooms that Harper and Mason made love for the first time. The room was dimly lit, the air heavy with the scent of old costumes. As they lay tangled up in each other, Harper felt like she was in a dream. She never imagined that she could feel so much love for another person.

As they caught their breath, they heard a sudden giggle. Harper's heart jumped into her throat as she turned to look at the door, expecting to see someone there. To her relief, it was only Froilan and Savannah, who had been looking for props that they had left in the room earlier.

The two of them giggled and grinned, obviously amused by what they had just walked in on. Harper wanted to die of embarrassment, but Mason took it in stride, sharing a sly grin with Froilan and Savannah before they left the room.

Despite the momentary embarrassment, Harper and Mason were more in love than ever. However, their families continued to present challenges. Mason's estranged father had suddenly reappeared in his life, just as Mason was trying to make a name for himself in the theatre world.

His father was a successful lawyer and was pressuring Mason to follow in his footsteps. The idea made Mason feel sick to his stomach. He had no interest in law, but he also didn't want to disappoint his father.

As Harper watched him struggle, she felt a deep sense of sadness. She knew what it felt like to try to live up to someone else's expectations. She wanted to support Mason but didn't know how.

Together, the two of them made a plan. Mason promised to be honest with his father about his passions and goals, no matter how much it might hurt him. Harper promised to be his support system, no matter what the outcome was.

The weeks that followed were filled with tension, uncertainty, and heartache. But through it all, Harper and Mason remained steadfast in their love for each other. They knew that they had something truly special, something worth fighting for, and they weren't going to let anyone come between them.
