Reflecting on his actions was not something Kane knew he ever did. But for whatever reason, he just could not stop thinking about why his wolf had descended on Catharine like that. It was as though he was fascinated and attracted to her... which was wildly impossible. His head had been constantly worried that he would refuse to concentrate in class. Most of the time, the teachers left him to do his bidding. Though they were all older than him, they also knew he was the next in line to rule the pack and were quite vicious.
Finally, not being able to comprehend anything being taught, he fled the class in search of fresh air. He passed several teachers along the way, but none questioned him. He drifted to the field, where the voices of people talking wafted toward him.
He stood afar off, observing them from a distance. He could detect it was an Omega’s, a nameless teacher who was busy trying to work his way into the good books of Alpha Jake and also still on the side of the Omega. A dancing rat in the presence of a wolf He smirked.
He wondered what the Omegas were planning. That is why it is never ideal to let them be too many in a pack.
He planned on finding out. He marched out of his hiding place and headed towards them. He saw the teacher leave. Leaving the female Omega student alone
Moving closer, he was shocked when he discovered it was Catharina. He had totally been unable to smell her. What was this Omega up to?
He marched towards her purposefully. There was something fishy about the girl who turned his senses completely ashen.
She was so engrossed in herself that she did not even smell him coming. He doubted she was able to smell him anyway. She was covered in his scent.
Peering down at her petite form, he asked, her eyes engrossed in the odd-shaped thing in her hand, "What are you doing?"
She jumped, the object in her hand falling to her lap. He was surprised she moved around with that kind of object in the school; he had never seen any like it.
Her eyes held guilt in them; she must have been taken unawares.
"I asked, what are you doing?" The sheer exercise exhausted him. He hated explaining himself, but for some reasons he had yet to fathom, Catharina was proving to be an exception to the several rules in his life.
Mouth shaking, she stuttered, "I..." She stuttered, glancing up and down at her lap.
Irritated, Kane snatched the odd-looking thing from her. She gasped but suddenly heaved a sign of relief when she saw what he had collected. The girl was weird.
Upon closer inspection, he saw that it was a purse that she wore underneath her skirt uniform. He was awed that she was permitted to be with him.
"What is it for?"
There, her relieved smile froze up, as she soon stared at him with a dumbfounded expression, like someone who is not capable of understanding a basic sentence. But then he was not surprised that Omegas are dumb.
"It.. it.. is.."
"Forget it." He snapped as she began stuttering again. "I don’t need to know your sorry excuse." He handed her purse back to her.
She kept quiet, folding the purse in her hands. He stood awkwardly in front of her for some seconds, without saying anything. He could see the nosy eyes of other students on them as they all filed out for the sports session.
The sports teacher walked up to them quietly. He was one of the few who made it known that, within the school compound, he did not fear Kane. He saw him just as a misguided child who needed to be shown a lot of love.
Giving the unequal pair a look, Kane looked away, not moving.
The teacher came closer, smartly directing his question to Catharina, who was looking awfully discomfited. "What is going on here?"
Kane ignored the question and walked away. The students all gave way to him as he stalked off, none prepared to be caught in the web of his anger.
Teacher Adam watched him leave. He then turned his attention to Catharina, who hadn’t said a word.
"I hope you know what you are doing, Little Omega. Alpha Kane is not the kind you want to mix with. No matter how much you want to climb the social ladder, I would hate to see you dead. Raymond tells me you are the top scorer in the class. If he bothers you again, you may look for me. "
Catharina’s head snapped up at that. She gave him a quizzical look.
"You do not have to be so suspicious. Not everyone likes the way the pack handles the issues with Omegas. "You might not be as strong as the rest of the pack, but you are wolves nonetheless." He patted her hair lovingly and ran back to the field.
Catharina knew she would have a heart attack if anyone came walking towards her again. She quickly picked up the phone that had been hidden in her skirt. She had clamped her legs together to keep them from sight, which made her purse visible instead.
As for Teacher Adam's suggestion, she would throw it under the bus. No one has ever gone up against Kane and lived to tell the story. She would just rely on her own plan, and she would gradually bring him down to his feet.
